April has been a busy month for a big part of Goldsboro’s population. The Wayne County Senior Games started April 1 and continue through the end of the month. Competitions ranged from walking and running to throwing a football, softball and discus. There was also golf, bowling, tennis, bocce, racquetball and swimming. Those 50 and older also competed in horseshoes, shuffleboard, cornhole, pickleball and billiards. In the silver arts category, entries ranged from jewelry and crocheted items to paintings and short stories. For the performing arts part of the senior games, people put on skits, did dances, sang and told jokes. Although seniors compete for awards during the games, it’s all in good fun, too.
