• Pumpkin decorating contest will take place through Oct. 15-20 at the Goldsboro Library. Children will decorate a plastic pumpkin to display through the beginning of November. Patrons will vote for their favorite pumpkin and the winner will get a prize. Free.

• Paws N Pumpkins Fall Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 20 at Waynesborough Park. The 4th annual Furever Paws fall festival and fundraiser will feature dog adoptions, wagon rides, face painting, a Goldsboro K9 demo, local craft vendors, food and drinks. There will also be local entertainment and a costume contest for dogs and kids. You can take photos with your pets. Monetary or pet food donations will be accepted.
