The National Day of Prayer observance will be 7 p.m. at the Goldsboro Family YMCA, at 1105 Parkway Drive. The event, which is open to the public, will include speakers, music and prayers.
Best Grove Vision of Hope Relay for Life Team No. 62 will hold a grilled chicken dinner sale from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost will be $8 per plate and includes string beans, potatoes, cake and roll. It will be held in the Best Grove Missionary Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, 1065 Tommy’s Road.
Carver Heights Elementary School parents and students are invited to attend the Scholastic Book Fair and parent night in the school media center from 6 to 8 p.m. Light refreshments will be served, and all forms of payment will be accepted for books purchased at the event.
Wayne Community College will hold a campuswide open house from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. “Bison Fest” will showcase all college programs. The public is invited to tour the campus, see demonstrations, speak with personnel from admissions and financial aid and learn about scholarships and college transfer options. There will also be games and inflatables for children, food and giveaways. The Eastern N.C. Vintage Equipment Club will hold its annual tractor show at the fairgrounds from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. In addition to an anticipated 60-75 pieces of equipment, the new truck and trailer for the caisson unit, for which Wayne Community College students recently completed the artwork, will be on display. The event is free and open to the public.
