A NIGHT AT HOGWARTSThe Goldsboro Library will host A Night at Hogwarts 6 to 7 p.m. Sept. 14 for ages 12 and older, dedicated to all things Harry Potter. Free. Information: 919-735-1824.


The Wayne County Museum will hold a fundraiser, “Golden Gala: Thank You for Being a Friend ... of the Museum,” 7 p.m. Sept. 30. It will be a celebration of the museum’s new pieces from the TV series “Golden Girls.” Jamie Wooten, a Goldsboro native, was one of the writers of the show and has donated several items for the fundraiser. PORCH TALKThe Goldsboro Library will host Porch Talk 6 p.m. Sept. 13. Melissa Harrell will moderate the program for people to talk about how to create peace in this community amidst violence and scary news. Free. Information: 919-735-1824.

STARLIGHT DANCE BANDStarlight Dance Band will perform 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 23 at the Peggy Seegars Senior Center for those 50 and older. Light appetizers will be served. Free. Information: 919-731-1591.

SENSORY STORYTIMEThe Goldsboro Library will have sensory storytime 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Sept. 19 and 26 for children. It is designed to engage children of all abilities with interactive stories, movement and sensory activity pay. Free. Information: 919-735-1824.

FRIENDS OF COMPASSIONFriends of Compassion support group for parents, grandparents and siblings who have lost children, grandchildren or siblings or anyone having problems dealing with the loss of a loved one will meet 7 p.m. Thursday at Pizza Inn. Information: Connie Brown at 919-920-9732.

FALL PREVENTION PROGRAMThe Peggy Seegars Senior Center will have a program on fall prevention for seniors noon Sept. 21. Brookdale Senior Living specialists will give ways to help minimize falls at home and in the community.

KIWANIS TO MEETGolden K Kiwanis Club will meet 10 a.m. Tuesday in Daniels Chapel fellowship hall. Britany Hawley, occupational therapist, will present the program.
