Members of Nahunta Extension and Community Association Club held their September meeting recently.
Hostess Pam Casey presented the club’s Christmas tree contest entry for the Wayne Regional Agricultural Fair. Club members used ornaments and decorations they made. They will gather at the fairgrounds to decorate the tree. They will dedicate it to the late Jean Pierce, who was a member of the club for 70 years.
Club members will also donate four door prizes for the Senior Showcase at the fair.
Operation Shoe Box will take place Oct. 19 at the Wayne County Cooperative Extension Service office at the Maxwell Center. The goal is to fill 50 Samaritan’s Purse shoe boxes for needy children around the world.
Each ECA club will donate 50 items for the shoe boxes. Nahunta will donate 50 cans of playdough. Additional items needed for the project include puzzles, chalk, jump ropes, ruler, glue sticks, flashlights with batteries, yo yos, combs, brushes and other small items.
For October, Nahunta members will take hygiene items such as shampoo, soap, washcloths and deodorant to the meeting to make 20 hygiene kits to be given to the Community Soup Kitchen of Goldsboro.
