A Seven Springs man was stabbed to death at a mobile home on Camp Jubilee Road.

Antonio Sabina Arnulfo, 36, 1133 Camp Jubilee Road in Seven Springs, is charged with murder in the stabbing death of Mateo Hernandez Shilon, 26, who also lived in the home.

The stabbing was reported at 2 a.m. on April 30. A caller reported that Shilon had been involved in a fight and was not breathing.

Wayne County sheriff’s deputies arrived at the home and pronounced Shilon dead as a result of blood loss from multiple stab wounds.

Arnulfo was arrested the same day and is being held in the Wayne County jail without bond.

Maj. Richard Lewis, with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, said he did not know what caused the fight that ultimately led to Shilon’s death.

The homicide is the second in 2022 under investigation by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.

The first homicide was reported March 19 in the area of 4400 N.C. 111 North where a vehicle fire was reported at 2:57 a.m. Wayne Fields, 64, of 1207 Evergreen Ave., was found laying face down on the ground near the car.

Capt. Jonathan Griffin, with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, confirmed Fields died from a gunshot wound. The investigation is ongoing.

“The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office is always concerned over any incident involving a death,” Lewis said. “It is only the second homicide of the year that we are investigating, but we would still certainly like to go a year without having to investigate a homicide.

“We wish people would settle their differences in court rather than through violence.”
