The 37th annual N.C. Pickle Festival will offer a variety of tunes with different bands performing during the two-day festival.
One band will perform on Friday, April 28, while four bands will perform on Saturday, April 29, said Julie Beck, president of the Mount Olive Area Chamber of Commerce.
“We try to bring in a variety of music, so we got some country, some R&B, top 40, some British Beatles music,” said Beck.
The festival’s musical entertainment kicks off Friday night when Southern Trouble performs from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. in front of Ribeyes Steakhouse, at 211 N. Center St.
Southern Trouble, a Carolina Beach band, plays a range of music that includes country, country rock, classic rock and blues.
Four different bands will perform Saturday on the main stage in front of Ribeyes Steakhouse between 9:10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Throwback Collaboration will play rhythm and blues from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Rivermist, which performs top 40 hits, will follow on stage from 11:25 a.m. to 1:25 p.m.
From 1:40 p.m. to 3:40 p.m., Wild Ride will play country music, and The British Invaders, a Beatles tribute band, will perform from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Based in Fayetteville, Throwback Collaboration was started in 2016.
Composed of seven musicians, the group plays R&B and smooth jazz, and several of its members have played with national recording artists.
The group’s goal is to keep the old-school funk alive.
“They’re more like a soul R&B band,” said Beck.
RivermistFormed in July 2014 in Fayetteville, Rivermist is a collaboration of musicians who have been playing in and around the Fayetteville area for more than 20 years.
The five-person band has more than 200 years of playing and singing experience combined.
The members are Greg Adair, drums and vocals; Allen Pier, lead vocals and keyboard; Tony Harrison, bass guitar; Cliff Bender, lead guitar; and Rick Starling, vocals, percussion and keyboard.
Rivermist primarily plays classic rock, R&B, and party band music.
Voted Fayetteville and Fort Bragg’s “Best Band” seven years in a row, Rivermist was also named the 2021 “Vocal Group of the Year” by the Carolina Country Music Association.
“(Rivermist) is a top 40 band,” said Beck.
Wild Ride is a Selma-based band that plays a wide range of country, rock and pop. Wild Ride performed at the Pickles, Pigs and Swigs event in downtown Mount Olive in October and was scheduled to perform at last year’s Mount Olive Pickle Drop.
“They’re more countryish,” Beck said.
Based in Wilmington, The British Invaders formed in 2011.
Its band members are Mark Pytko, guitar; Tony Hartt, drums; Clay Whittington, frontman singer and keyboard; Roger Jones, singer and bass player; and Henry Wisniewski, harmonica player.
“I had them several years ago, so they’re really good,” Beck said. “They sound like the Beatles, dress like the Beatles.”
