Wayne County commissioners will hold a public hearing 9:30 a.m. Tuesday on a proposed modification to the lease of a Wayne County Executive Jetport corporate hangar to UNC Health Care.
The lease would be for 10 years with a monthly rent of $3,500.
The meeting will get underway with an agenda briefing at 8 a.m. followed by the formal session at 9 a.m. Both sessions, and the public hearing, will be held in the commissioners’ meeting room on the fourth floor of the Wayne County Courthouse Annex.
The county and UNC Health entered into the original lease on Oct. 17, 2016.
However, it has been determined that certain planned upfits to a building are not practical.
Under the changes, Wayne UNC Health Care will be able to remove a modular unit on the site and will be permitted to install its own modular crew quarters.
While the lease is in effect, UNC Health Care agrees to register no less than $4 million worth of aircraft in Wayne County. If it fails to do so, the county may terminate the lease upon 30 days notice.
In other business Tuesday, commissioners will consider motions to approve proclamations for National Day of Prayer and Recognition Day for National Service and to award the contract for the construction of the U.S. 117 sewer pump station to low bidder Step Construction.
Step submitted a bid of $394,278.25. Other bids were received from T.A. Loving Co., $544,951.25, and BridgePoint Civil, $773,960.
County Manager Craig Honeycutt will introduce new 911 Director Chris Barnes.
Consent agenda items include budget amendments and a motion to adopt a resolution declaring surplus real property and authorizing its sale.
The property, located at 912 N. John St., is jointly owned by the county and city of Goldsboro. The county has received an offer of $4,300 from St. Matthew AME Zion Church, which is located on an adjoining lot.
The city will need to approve the sale, too. The sale would be advertised under the upset bid procedure.
Public comments will start at 9:05 a.m. Speakers will have four minutes to comment on their topic of choice.
