A man who was shot in the leg during a home invasion is now facing felony drug charges after deputies searched his home and found 22 grams of what they believe to be methamphetamine, according to a press release.

Christopher Lee Cantrell, 31, of 440 Racetrack Road, LaGrange, is charged with felony possession with intent to sell or deliver methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Maj. Tom Effler with the Wayne County Sheriff's Office said deputies saw things inside the house on Racetrack Road after the shooting on April 12 to make them think there were drugs and drug activity at the residence.

The release said an on-call narcotics detective was contacted and came to Cantrell's house.

Cantrell gave authorities consent to search his home, and the release said they found 22 grams of methamphetamine, scales and bags to put the drugs in.

Effler said Cantrell's injury sustained during the shooting was not life-threatening.

The sheriff's office at the time said another man inside the home at the time of the shooting was also pistol-whipped.

Reports from the incident said three men drove up to the house and went inside the home, shooting Cantrell with a revolver and pistol-whipping another man.

Reports said the three men left in a red Dodge Charger.

Cantrell was treated for his injuries before being arrested on the drug charges the next day and put in the Wayne County Jail under a $5,500 secured bond.
