A Goldsboro man is accused of robbing a Goldsboro store employee at gunpoint and of committing another robbery a couple of weeks later in Raleigh.
The Goldsboro Police Department responded at 1:29 p.m. June 22 to a report of a robbery with a dangerous weapon at 573 E. New Hope Road. An unknown suspect held a Family Dollar employee at gunpoint and stole currency, police said.
After further investigation by police, a warrant was issued June 29 for Aakim Franklin, 52, of Oxford Boulevard, for robbery with a dangerous weapon.
Franklin also is believed to have been involved in a robbery Thursday at a State Employees Credit Union branch in Raleigh, the city of Goldsboro said in a news release. A warrant later was issued by the Raleigh Police Department for common-law robbery.
Franklin was arrested in Raleigh at approximately 7:30 p.m. Friday by the State Bureau of Investigation and the Raleigh Police Department.
Franklin was served on the outstanding warrants and held without bail in the Wake County Jail.
