Goldsboro police searched a Day Circle residence Tuesday and found a 17-year-old in possession of two Glock auto-sears handguns.
An auto sears is a device that allows semiautomatic handguns to become fully automatic, said LaToya Henry, Goldsboro public information officer.
The auto sears turns a weapon into a machine gun and possessing one is against federal law, according to the United States Code, 18 U.S.C. 922(o).
At about 1:44 p.m. Tuesday, the Goldsboro Police Department gang unit along with officers from special enforcement and the GPD housing unit went to a residence within the 600 block of Day Circle following a tip that a resident had Glock auto sears devices, Henry said.
Police served a search warrant and found the two weapons. A 17-year-old male was at the residence and taken into custody without incident.
He was then released into the custody of his mother at the scene, Henry said.
Juvenile petitions for two counts of felony possession of a weapon of mass destruction will be filed through juvenile court at a later date.
