A Selma man was arrested and charged with indecent liberties with a child Thursday after a report was filed regarding a sexual offense with a juvenile.
On May 13, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office received the report involving the juvenile. The sexual offense reportedly took place within Wayne County and stemmed from contact on a social media platform, deputies said.
Detectives launched an investigation that led to a suspect who was arrested and charged.
Ivan Derrick Cooke, 42, of Whistle Post Drive in Selma, was arrested and charged with solicit a child by computer and indecent liberties with a child, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
He was booked in the Wayne County jail under a $25,000 bond.
