Cars are parked at Briarcliff Apartments on North Spence Avenue on Jan. 5, days after vehicle break-ins were reported at the apartment complex, along with several other residential areas in the Spence Avenue area.

A 17-year-old unidentified juvenile was taken into custody by Goldsboro police following a string of vehicle break-ins that took place at several apartment complexes and residential areas near Spence Avenue on Jan. 2.

Police reported Tuesday that the juvenile was taken into custody three days after the robberies, on Jan. 5, and taken to a juvenile holding facility.

The crime spree involved 27 vehicles at Briarcliff Apartments, Spence Place Apartments and Oak Brook Apartments, all on Spence Avenue, Tanglewood Apartments on Cashwell Drive, Hilldale Lane and Billy Francis Drive. Robbers reportedly stole close to $2,000 in cash, four bicycles worth $2,000, an HP laptop and other items.

The juvenile, who was not identified by police, is facing 31 charges related to the vehicle break-ins that reportedly took place on Dec. 29 and Jan. 2, according to police.

Police report the following charges against the juvenile:

• 504-A N. Hillcrest Dr., Dec. 29, one count of breaking and entering a motor vehicle, and one count of conspiracy to commit breaking and entering a motor vehicle.

• 506-G N. Hillcrest Dr., Dec. 29, one count of breaking and entering a motor vehicle, and one count of conspiracy to commit breaking and entering a motor vehicle.

• 506 G. N. Hillcrest Dr.,Dec. 29, one count of breaking and entering a motor vehicle, and one count of conspiracy to commit breaking and entering a motor vehicle.

• 502 A N. Hillcrest Dr., Dec. 29, one count of breaking and entering a motor vehicle, and one count of conspiracy to commit breaking and entering a motor vehicle.

• 2505 Dawn Circle, Dec. 29, one count of breaking and entering a motor vehicle, one count of conspiracy to commit breaking and entering a motor vehicle, and one count of damage to property.

• 2600-E Cashwell Dr., Jan. 2, one count of breaking and entering a motor vehicle, and one count of conspiracy to commit breaking and entering a motor vehicle.

• 108, 111, and 120 Hilldale Lane, Jan. 2, one count of breaking and entering a motor vehicle, three counts of conspiracy to commit breaking and entering a motor vehicle, one count of breaking and entering, one count of conspiracy to commit breaking and entering, and one count of conspiracy to commit larceny.

• 2600 Cashwell Dr., Jan. 2, six counts of conspiracy to commit breaking and entering motor vehicle, and one count of conspiracy to commit larceny.

• 702 N. Spence Ave., Jan. 2, two counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle.

• 400-B N. Hillcrest Dr., Jan. 2, one count of breaking and entering a motor vehicle, and one count of conspiracy to commit breaking and entering a motor vehicle.

An investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are expected, police said.
