In recognition of National Poison Prevention Week March 19 through March 25, there will be three Operation Medicine Drop events around the area.
Safe Kids Wayne, under the umbrella of The Partnership for Children of Wayne County, spearheads such events, in an effort to prevent unintentional childhood injury and death. Safe Kids along with the Goldsboro Police Department and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office are sponsoring the events.
The following locations will serve as drop-off stations for medications:
• Monday, March 20, Peggy M. Seegars Senior Center, 2001 E. Ash St., 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
• Tuesday, March 21, Wayne Community College, Wayne Learning Center Room 161, from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
• Wednesday, March 22, Dudley Christian Church fellowship hall, 212 O’Berry Road, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Residents are encouraged to bring all old prescriptions and non-prescription drugs to drop off, where they will be properly destroyed.
Medications need to be in their original containers. While identifiable information like name, address and phone numbers can be marked out, the medication details should be left intact for logging purposes.
