A Goldsboro man was hospitalized after a shooting Tuesday afternoon near the corner of Olivia Lane and Crawford Street.
Capt. LeAnn Rabun said Goldsboro police responded to a ShotSpotter alert around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday on Olivia Lane. Around that same time, dispatch notified officers in the area of a victim who was shot in the same area, said LaToya Henry, public information officer for the city of Goldsboro.
Jonathan Junior Oneal was taken to Wayne UNC Health Care by ambulance after suffering from an unreported number of gunshot wounds, Henry said. Oneal was treated for his injuries at the hospital and later taken to Vidant Health Care for further treatment.
Oneal is currently in critical condition, Henry said.
The crime scene was very spread out across a section of Olivia Lane, Rabun said. Police taped off a section of the street stretching from the corners of Hugh Street to Crawford Street.
Crime Scene Unit investigators were also on scene, Rabun said.
Henry said the investigation is ongoing and could not provide further details about the shooting.
