A man was shot in the buttocks early Sunday morning while at a party on Durham Lake Road, according to a report filed with the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities still aren't sure where the party was because the victim of the gunshot, identified as 28-year-old Michael Brandon Faison, of Dudley, was mostly uncooperative out of fear of retaliation.
Faison reportedly told authorities he was "hanging with his homies and family at the party drinking, having fun," the report said.
Authorities say Faison wasn't initially aware he was shot. He told deputies he heard a gun go off and felt heat coming from his lower back/buttocks area.
He then got into a car with a friend and left the party, heading toward his sister's house in Mount Olive.
But then he decided he wanted to walk and got out of the car on Church Street.
Faison then walked to Hillsborough Street, where he fell down.
A person found him after he fell and the Mount Olive Police Department responded along with Wayne County EMS.
EMS took Faison to Wayne UNC Health Care. Authorities then determined he was shot once in the upper buttocks with a small caliber handgun.
According to the report, he told authorities he wouldn't provide any more information because he was scared of retaliation if he did.
Faison reportedly told authorities he was drunk and "(expletive) talking" at the party, and that could be why he was shot.
No charges have been filed at this time, but the incident remains under investigation.
