Ms. Shaddiyah Shawnta’e Weeks, 35, Goldsboro, N.C., departed this earthly life Nov. 4, 2018.

She was born April 11, 1983, to Jill Weeks and Carl Dean Hood.

Shaddiyah began her elementary education in Goldsboro city schools, and later moved to Mount Olive, N.C., where she would finish her education and later graduate at Southern Wayne High School in the class of 2002.

Shaddiyah will be remembered as loving, caring and compassionate and strong-minded.

She rededicated her life to God in 2017; she continued to be a fluent church member working in the music department as a praise and worship leader, drummer and helper.

She always loved sports.

Some of her special events included the births of her sons, Ezekiyal in 2010 and her son, Octavious in 2011.

She is survived by her parents, George William and Jill Yvonne Smith; two sons, Ezekiyal Weeks and Octavious Weeks of Kyle, Texas; two sisters: J. Nicole Campbell of New Jersey and Natasha Hood of Mount Olive, N.C.; three brothers, Elroy Campbell and Christopher Campbell (Latoya) of New Jersey and George Trey Smith of Goldsboro, N.C.; two uncles, Alexander Weeks Jr. (Regina) of Kyle, Texas, and Steven Weeks (Tiffany) of Somerset, N.J.; and one special friend, Tangela Greenfield of Goldsboro, N.C.

A memorial service was held Saturday, Nov. 10, at Word Faith Center, 296 Buck Swamp Road, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.

Minister Anna Jones Sutton, 67, died Nov. 3 at Vidant Medical Center, Greenville.

Dorothy Lynn McKnabb, 77, 101 Summerdale Drive, Pikeville, died Wednesday at Wayne UNC Health Care.

William Broadhurst Jr., 60, 2982 U.S. 117 South, Dudley, died Nov. 3 at Wayne UNC Health Care.

Funeral was Saturday at 11 a.m. in J.B. Rhodes Jr. Memorial Chapel at J.B. Rhodes Funeral Home and Cremations, with Dr. Evelena Oliver officiating. Burial was at Broadhurst Family Cemetery, Seven Springs.

He was born June 6, 1958, in Wayne County to William R. Sr. and Hattie Elizabeth Fields Broadhurst. He was married to Ramonia Morrisey Broadhurst.

Mrs. LaShena Demelle Smith, 47, Georgia, formerly of Goldsboro, passed Monday, Nov. 5, 2018, at Heritage Hospice Center in Marietta, Ga.

The celebration of her life will be held Monday, Nov. 12, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Goldsboro Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, 1314 Ben Brewington Court, Goldsboro, N.C. She will be laid to rest at Wayne Memorial Park, 2925 U.S. 117 South, Dudley, N.C.

She was born June 18, 1971, in Wayne County, N.C., to Valoria “Val” Sheffield Vinson and Horace Daniel Thompson.

She leaves to celebrate her life and memories her loving husband, Herman Jerel Smith; and her SONshine, Jerel Jeremiah Smith of Stone Mountain, Ga.; her mother, Valoria Sheffield Vinson (Paul Vinson Jr., deceased) of Raleigh, N.C.; her father, Horace Thompson (Patricia) of Goldsboro, N.C.; her maternal grandmother, Mary Sheffield of Goldsboro, N.C.; four sisters:, Artese LaShon Sheffield (Corey) of Raleigh, N.C., Paulesha KaShonda Sheffield (Travis) of Raleigh, N.C., Qwantego Thompson of Newport News, Va., and Tonya Eaves (sister/cousin) of Atlanta, Ga.; two brothers, Tony McCoy (Datiana) of Netcong, N.J., and Marshaun Thompson of Bremerton, Wash.; godmother, Antoinette Rogers of Goldsboro, N.C.; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Robert Leonard Settle, 67, Goldsboro, passed away Thursday, Nov. 8, 2018, at Wayne UNC Health Care.

Bob was born in Dayton, Ohio, Oct. 13, 1951, to the late Robert and Janet Medford Settle.

He was a retired engineer with the Prysmian Group in Lexington, S.C.

Bob was a true sportsman, most comfortable outdoors, on the water or in the woods.

Above all, Bob enjoyed the opportunity to help others and spending time with his family and friends.

At his request, no formal services will be held.

Bob is survived by his wife of 25 years, Margaret Anderson Settle; children, Regina Crosby and husband, Brian, and Jeffrey Settle and wife, Cherie; stepson, Christopher Monaco; and five grandchildren.

He is also survived by his brother, Kenton Settle, and sisters, Marilyn Jones and husband, Larry, and Sharon Lowe and husband, Terry.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin Settle.

Jessie Miller Langley, 48, 937 Faro Road, Faro, died Friday afternoon at his residence after a lingering illness.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 3 to 4 p.m., with a memorial service following at Eureka United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Martha Thomas Langley; a son, Kendall Langley of Faro; a daughter, Sydney Langley Jessee (Steven) of Leland; his mother, Virginia Williams Langley of Hampstead; a brother, Julian Earl Langley Jr.; and two beloved K-9s, Bronx and Cocoa.

He is also survived by his wife’s parents, Brent and Mable Thomas of Faro, as well as his sisters-in-law and their spouses and children.

He was preceded in death by his father, Julian Langley Sr., and his beloved pup-dog, Elephant.
