The Class of 2019 at Parrott Academy in Kinston recently held its graduation ceremony.
In his opening remarks, Headmaster Bert Bright acknowledged that the class had earned the highest SAT average of any group in the school’s history and had netted more than $1 million in scholarships.
Several of the graduates were from Wayne County, including this year’s valedictorian, Brianne Cregan of Goldsboro. She was also the recipient of the W. Jack Rider Cup in English.
Others from Goldsboro receiving special awards included Arden Riddle, alumni student athlete of the year; Sam Okonkwo, presented the Marion A. Parrott History Award and the Perry Leadership Cup; and Jeff Bland, the DAR Good Citizen Award.
