Goldsboro police set up a tent during an investigation into a fatal shooting at America’s Best Value Inn off U.S. 70 Friday night. A Goldsboro man living at the hotel was pronounced dead when emergency medical services workers arrived on scene.

A shooting at a hotel off U.S. 70 in Goldsboro left one man dead.

Goldsboro police opened a homicide investigation after responding to a shots-fired call at America’s Best Value Inn, 701 U.S. 70, around 10:38 p.m. Friday, according to LaToya Henry, spokeswoman for the city of Goldsboro.

Officers arriving at the hotel found 34-year-old Tishan Geigher lying on the ground outside the door of Room 122 suffering a gunshot wound, Henry said. Responding Wayne County emergency medical services personnel pronounced Geigher dead on scene.

Geigher lived at the hotel, Henry said.

The Crime Scene Unit with the Goldsboro Police Department Investigations Division took control of the scene, and the investigation is ongoing, Henry said.
