Donna Grady Thomas, 74, Mount Olive, departed this world to live in the delight of her Lord Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2021, at Wayne UNC Health Care, Goldsboro.

Donna was born in Wayne County June 8, 1947, to the late Granger Earl Grady and Mildred Head Grady.

A dedicated employee of Wayne County Public Schools, Donna retired after 39 years of faithful service. The virtue of service above self was ingrained into Donna’s being.

Following her retirement, she dedicated her days to serving families of hospice patients at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. Never seeking reward or praise, Donna showed the love of Christ to both friends and strangers.

A longtime member of Falling Creek Baptist Church, Donna more recently became involved in the ministries of Selah Christian Church. Finding her place in several ministries, Donna was very involved in the life of her church.

All in God’s perfect timing, Donna found the love of her life. Soon after she and Charlie met, they understood their destiny and united in marriage. From that point forward, you hardly ever saw one without the other. Their bonds of love and friendship were unparalleled, and the two enjoyed life together for 15 years.

Donna is survived by her husband, Charlie Thomas; sisters, Sandra Ryan and Lori Grady; brother, Glenn Grady; stepsons, Chuck Thomas and wife, Lori, and Scott Thomas; and grandchildren, Morgan Thomas, Aaron Thomas and Bailey Thomas.

She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Teresa Downey and Linda Sullivan; brother-in-law, Earl Thomas and wife, Kelly; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Grady, and brother-in-law, Bobby Ryan.

The family will receive friends Monday, Nov. 22, 2021, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.

A service to celebrate Donna’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2021, at Seymour Funeral Home, with pastor Patrick Muston officiating. Interment will follow at noon in Eastern Carolina State Veteran’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in her memory to Selah Christian Church, 1332 Selah Church Road, Four Oaks, N.C., 27524, or Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
