Ida Mae Bell Lucas

July 5, 1933-April 5, 2019

Ida Mae Bell Lucas, 85, Goldsboro, passed away Friday, April 5, 2019, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Ida was born in Wilson County July 5, 1933, to the late Carey L. and Donnie Raper Bell. She was married to the late Charles Lucas.

For many years, Ida worked as a registered nurse with Cherry Hospital.

Ida loved Little Rock Free Will Baptist Church, and was a dedicated and faithful servant her entire life.

She had a large extended circle of family and friends, and they were all very special to her. She will be missed, but greatly remembered.

The family will receive friends Sunday, April 7, 2019, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.

A service to celebrate Ida’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 8, 2019, in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson, N.C.

Ida is survived by her sons, Charles “Chuck” Lucas Jr. and Robert Timothy “Tim” Lucas; grandchildren, Crystal Lucas Hayes and husband, Chad, and Chase Lucas and wife, Mary; and great-grandchildren, Taylor Hayes, Dylan Hayes, Jaxon Lucas and Luke Lucas.

She is also survived by her sister, Ann Bell; sister-in-law, Melda Langley (Jack); brother-in-law, Rudolph Lucas (Monta); and several nieces and nephews she loved very much.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Bobby Bell, and sister, Doris McDermott.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534, or Little Rock Free Will Baptist Church, 6115 Little Rock Church Road, Lucama, N.C., 27851.

Jasper Wayne “Jackie” Smith

Jasper Wayne “Jackie” Smith, 66, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2019, at the age of 66.

A native of the Beautancus community near Mount Olive, he was the son of the late Herman D. and Edna Foss Smith.

He had been a resident of Clyde, N.C., for a long tenure of time, and had enjoyed a career in photography.

He graduated from North Duplin High School in 1971.

Jackie is survived by his sister, Billie Smith King of Faison; his brother, Donald Smith of Mount Olive; and two nieces, Mary King Parker of Clinton and Beth King of Faison.

He will be remembered in a graveside service to be at 11 a.m. Monday, April 8, in Maplewood Cemetery, Mount Olive.

Emmitt Cecil Davis

July 15, 1934-April 5, 2019

Emmitt Cecil Davis, 84, Mount Olive area, died Friday, April 5, at his home.

Services will be Monday, April 8, at 3 p.m. from the chapel of Tyndall Funeral Home, with the Rev. Russ Evans officiating, followed by burial in Calypso Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home during the hour before the service and at other times, at the Gene Hines residence in Calypso.

Mr. Davis had a long career in the textile industry.

He was a member of Peace Baptist Church in Calypso.

He is survived by a son, Gene Hines and wife, Virginia, of Calypso; a sister, Louise D. Anderson of Columbus, Ohio; four brothers, Winston Davis, Leonard Davis and the Rev. Jack Davis all of Goldsboro and Kenneth Davis of Corinth, Miss.; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Frances Barwick Davis; a daughter, Teresa Irene Davis; parents, Mr. and Mrs. George W. Davis; and seven siblings.

Mary Sue Sutton, 79, LaGrange, died Wednesday at Lenoir Assisted Living, Pink Hill.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Luke Free Will Baptist Church, LaGrange. Interment will be in Sutton Family Cemetery, LaGrange.

She is survived by four children.

Lucian Dal Wright Jr., 87, Conway, S.C., died Thursday at home.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Memorial Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors.

He was born in Wayne County Oct. 18, 1931, to the late Lucian Dal Wright Sr. and Lula Hill Wright. He was married to Mary Parrish Wright.

He is survived by a son.
