Patricia Pittman McRae, 78, of Goldsboro, passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2019, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.

Patricia was born in South Carolina on Sept. 17, 1940, to the late Gilmer Guy Pittman and Dixie Pearl Williamson Pittman. She was married to the late Charles Bruce McRae.

Patricia worked in the banking industry for many years. Most important to Patricia was her family. She worked so hard to make sure her husband and children were well taken care of. Her sweet smile and gentle ways will be remembered by everyone who knew her. She will be missed and remembered always.

Patricia was a founding member of Love Memorial Baptist Church and was a dedicated and faithful servant her entire life. Patricia also enjoyed the many friendships she encountered as a member of the Red Hat Society.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 24, 2019, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home. A service to celebrate Patricia’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 25, 2019, at Love Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard Toler and the Rev. George Fox officiating. Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

Patricia is survived by her daughters, Ann M. Smith and husband, Chris, of Chapel Hill, and Leigh M. Cox and husband, Dean, of Goldsboro; son-in-law, Jeff Sparks of Mount Olive; and her grandchildren, Matthew Sparks, Casey Sparks, Blake Smith, Maggie Smith, Josh Cox and Drew Cox. She is also survived by her sister, June Turner and husband, Tom, of Fountain Inn, S.C., and several nieces and nephews she loved very much.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Renee M. Sparks, who passed away on Feb. 5, 2019.

John Ambrose Mansfield, 84, of Goldsboro, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 20, 2019, at his home.

John was born in Naples, New York, on April 9, 1935, to the late Robert J. Mansfield and Dorothy Barry Mansfield. He was married for 26 years to Sherlene Garris Mansfield. John proudly served his country in the United States Air Force.

John was a member of New Hope Friends Church and loved to sing in the choir until his health declined. He was a carpenter and electrician by trade. John was also a carpenter teacher at Goldsboro High School for several years. After his retirement from the school system he opened John’s Yard Art and Gift Shop for several years before his retirement.

A service to celebrate John’s life will be held Thursday, April 25, 2019, at 12:30 p.m. at New Hope Friends Church with Bill Garner officiating. Inurnment will follow at 2 p.m. at Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery with military honors. Following the inurnment, the family will return to the Family Life Center at New Hope Friends Church for a time of visitation and fellowship, and at other times they will be at the home.

John is survived by his wife of 26 years, Sherlene Garris Mansfield, and his children from prior marriages, Johnny Mansfield (Ellen), Suzie Steel (Terry), Linda Kuzzma (Jim), Shelly Mansfield, Leona Mozingo (Bennie), Josh Mansfield, Chad Mansfield (Melissa), stepdaughter, Crystal Case (Tracy), and stepson, Stephen Barnes (Rebecca); 25 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Bear Mansfield, and a half-brother, Rex Rush (Cindy).

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given in his memory to New Hope Friends Church, 4451 U.S. 70 Business, Goldsboro, NC 27534.

Kirby Junior McKiver, 66, of 2770 Indian Springs Road, Seven Springs, N.C., passed away Wednesday at Wayne UNC Health Care in Goldsboro, N.C. The funeral service is scheduled for Wednesday, April 24, 2019, at Smith Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, 713 Pineview Cemetery Road, Mount Olive, N.C., at 11 a.m. Pastor Antonio Blow will officiate. Burial will follow in Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, 164 Longs Plant Farm Road, Goldsboro, N.C.

The public viewing will be held Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at McIntyre Funeral Home, 1215 Royall Ave., Goldsboro, N.C., with the family meeting and greeting friends from 6 to 7 p.m.

Mr. McKiver is survived by many loving family members including his wife, Millie Jean James McKiver of the home; two daughters, Lakeisha Gardner and husband, Michael Glenn, of Columbia, S.C., and Tameka Lee and husband, Craig, of Dudley, N.C.; and two grandchildren, Makayla Gardner and Amaya Gardner, both of Columbia, S.C.

The family is being served by Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway, Wilson, N.C.

Elisabeth "Betty" Niedermaier Parker, 81, Mount Olive resident, passed away Easter Sunday afternoon, April 21, 2019, in Nash General Hospital, Rocky Mount.

Graveside rites will be Thursday, April 25, at 1 p.m. in the Maplewood Cemetery of Mount Olive. In lieu of flowers, gifts to honor her memory may be made to National Audubon Society, 225 Varick St., New York, NY 10014

Mrs. Parker, an only child of her late parents, came to the United States from Germany in 1960. She had been employed in various career settings, from being a seamstress at Young Squire Industries, to being a clerk in Rose's Department Store, to food preparation at SunBridge Nursing Center, to managing a Friendly Mart store location. She was of the Catholic faith. One who enjoyed the outdoors, especially caring for plants and flowers, and watching birds, she remained fluent in two languages. Her feline friend, Charlie, was very dear to her.

She became a widow in 1977 at the unexpected death of her husband, Donald Edward Parker.

Mrs. Parker is survived by her sons, Kay Parker and his wife, Belinda, of Mount Olive, and Eric Parker of Pink Hill; three grandchildren, Nicole Michelle Willis and husband, Joseph, Brandon Scott Parker, and Dana Parker; and four great-grandchildren, Taylor, Camden, Riley, and Parker.

Claude E. “Squirt” Artis Jr., 58, of 608 W. Mulberry St., died Tuesday, April 16, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

He was born Nov. 18, 1960, to Claude and Bertha C. Artis.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. today at Barnes Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.

Gale Marie McIntyre Edwards, 70, died Sunday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Funeral will be noon Thursday at Oak Ridge Church of God of Prophecy.

She was born July 22, 1948, in San Francisco to Richard Dale McIntyre and Belle Marie Robinson McIntyre. She was the wife of the late G.C. Edwards.

She is survived by a son and two daughters.

Visitation will be immediately after the service at the church.
