Mrs. Dixie Lee Hayes Hoskin, 85, of 6581 Keener Road, Clinton, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, April 9, 2019, at her daughter’s home in Newton Grove, with her family by her side.

A funeral service will be held Friday evening, April 12, at 7 p.m. at the Royal-Hall Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Stanley King officiating. A graveside service will be held on Saturday morning, April 13, at 11 a.m. at the Faison Cemetery.

Mrs. Dixie was born on March 26, 1934, in Johnston County to the late Samuel Carlie and Alice Thornton Hayes. She was a poultry farmer and loved cooking Sunday dinners for her family. She was a dedicated member of St. Matthew Pentecostal Holiness Church, volunteering her time, and loved to fellowship with her church family. She was very adventurous and lived life to the fullest.

She leaves behind four daughters, Judy Ann Jackson, of Newton Grove, Kathy Lee Williams, of Clinton, Alice Rose Long (Eddie), of Clinton, Wanda Kay Ginn, of Goldsboro; two sons, Jesse “JW” Hoskin (Sandra Lee), of Dudley, Johnnie Ray Hoskin (Lynn), of Turkey; two sisters, Daisy Tyndall, of Clinton, Elsie Dudley, of Grantham; brother, Lester Hayes, of Durham; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was a dedicated mama, grandma, sister and friend to all. She leaves behind a loving legacy and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was as preceded in death by her husband, William Franklin “Bill” Hoskin; a son, Herman Glenn Hoskin; one sister, Dorothy Smith; and two brothers, Richard Hayes and Johnny Hayes.

Visitation for family and friends will be held immediately following the service on Friday evening, and other times at the home of her daughter, Judy Jackson, at 7066 Harper House Road, Newton Grove.

Mary Kathryn Jones Edgerton, 83, unexpectedly went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, April 10, 2019, at Wayne UNC Health Care in Goldsboro.

Kathryn was born in Wayne County on March 15, 1936, to the late James Henry Weeks and Ella Mae Bowden Weeks. She retired after 30 years of service with O’Berry Center in Goldsboro, where she served as a dietary supervisor. Kathryn was a member of Rosewood First Baptist Church and enjoyed being a part of the Gleaners Sunday School class. Her contagious smile and outgoing personality broke down barriers and opened doors to an exciting and fulfilled life. Kathryn dedicated her life to serving her family unselfishly and to serving her Lord. She will be missed and greatly remembered.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 11, 2019, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service to celebrate her life at 7 p.m. in the chapel with Dr. Mike Collier and the Rev. Freddie Langston officiating. The family will also greet friends following the service on Thursday and other times at her home. Interment will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 12, 2019, in the Princeton Cemetery.

Kathryn is survived by her husband, Ben Ray Edgerton; children, Shirley J. Davis and husband, Ronnie, Michael Wayne Jones and wife, Lisa (whom Kathryn loved as a daughter), Gail Newell and husband, Dale, and Eugene Jones and wife, Beth; grandchildren, Christy D. Pearce, Joy D. Thompson, Robert Davis, Tammy D. Daw, Emily J. Lassiter, Jonathan Jones, Brooke Newell, Eric Jones, Bryan Jones and Brittany J. Byrd; and 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two stepchildren, Darryl Edgerton and Angie E. Chapman.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Claxton C. Jones, and her son, James Phillip Jones.

Leslie Horace Woodall, age 90, died Tuesday evening at his home.

Born in Johnston County, he was the son of the late Leslie Junious Woodall and the late Jeannette Mozingo Woodall, husband of the late Ruby E. Woodall and father of the late Janet W. Davis.

Horace was retired from McLamb Monument Company, and was a member of Selah Christian Church.

A service to celebrate Horace’s life will be held Friday at 7 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with the Rev. Patrick Muston officiating. Family members will greet friends immediately following the service at the funeral home. A committal service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Falling Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Horace is survived by two sons, Jerry Woodall and fiancée, Lacey, Jeff Woodall and wife, Pat; a brother, Aubrey Woodall; a sister, Joyce House; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
