Helen H. Hill

Sept. 18, 1932-April 16, 2019

Mrs. Helen Hart Hill, 86, Snow Hill, passed away Tuesday morning, April 16, 2019, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

A native of Greene County, she was born Sept. 18, 1932, the daughter of Johnny B. and Celia Howell Hart, and was their last surviving child.

Upon marriage to her husband, Envid Hill, she proudly assumed the roles of wife, mother and homemaker.

A lady of strong Christian faith, she was a member of Free Gospel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, where she faithfully attended until declining health.

Her surviving family includes her beloved and devoted husband of 69 years, Envid Hill; children, Randy Hill and wife, Diane, of Snow Hill, Teresa Hill Munger and husband, Dell, of Goldsboro, Dianne Hill Lovett and husband, Gary, of Snow Hill and Jerry Hill and wife, Pepper, of Rocky Point; nine grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 7 p.m. Thursday at Free Gospel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, with pastor Michael Parks officiating. Committal services will follow at 11 a.m. Friday at Snow Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening following the service and other times at the residence.

Mary E. Smith

Mary E. “Bess” Smith, 91, formerly of 660 Harris Road, Grifton, N.C., died at Wayne Memorial UNC Health Care Center.

She lived with her daughter, Delores S. Holmes at 105 Delia Trail, Goldsboro, N.C.

She is survived by three children, William Smith of Grifton, N.C., Barbara Campbell (James) of Laurinburg, N.C., and Delores Holmes of Goldsboro, N.C., and other relatives.

Funeral was officiated by pastor George Washington at Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church, Grifton, N.C., with burial in the church cemetery.

Don C. Bass

Died April 13, 2019

Don C. Bass, 61, New Bern, died Saturday at home.

Funeral will be held later.

He was born in Wilson County to JoAnn F. Bass of Goldsboro. He was married to the late Barbara Wolfe Bass.

He is survived by two daughters.

Anthony A. Herring

Anthony Art Herring, 36, Kinston, died Sunday.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Spilman Memorial Baptist Church, Kinston. Graveside service will be at Fairview Cemetery, LaGrange.

He was born to Art Jones and Vickie Allio Herring in Lenoir County May 23, 1982. He was married to Melissa.

He is survived by three children.

Visitation will be at noon Thursday.

Walter E. Rouse

Died April 13, 2019

Walter Edward Rouse, 79, 210 N. Center St., died Saturday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Taylors Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, LaGrange. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

Visitation will be an hour prior to the service. The family will assemble at the home for the funeral procession.

Jimmy Flanagan, 59, 62 Patrick Drive, Snow Hill, died Tuesday in Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
