Ms. Daisy Bryant, 64, of Goldsboro, N.C., departed this earthly life on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2018.

She was born on Nov. 10, 1954, to the late Lloyd James Bryant and Ella Williams Bryant in Mount Olive, N.C.

She was the granddaughter of the late Knox and Lindia Williams and the late Oscar and Daisy Bryant.

Daisy was a loving, enduring daughter, sister, and aunt who received the same love wholeheartedly by all who knew her. She attended Goldsboro High School of which she graduated with the class of 1973. She would go on to further her education at the Wayne Community College. Daisy also enjoyed cooking meals for everyone to partake. Words cannot describe how exemplary Daisy was on this earth. Her passing has left a void that can never be replaced.

She leaves to cherish her memory five sisters, Gladys Bryant, Catherine Lofton and Bette Bryant, all of Goldsboro, N.C., Annie Mae Bryant of Charlotte, N.C., and Sarah McCall (Leroy) of Charlotte, N.C.; three brothers, Floyd Bryant (Lelia) of Augusta, Ga., Johnnie E. Bryant (Vicky) of Goldsboro, N.C., and Ennit Bryant of Fayetteville, N.C.; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews and friends.

Visitation will be today at the funeral home from 3 until 6 p.m.

Family will receive friends from 5 until 6 p.m.

Funeral services will be at noon from the chapel of Serenity Memorial Funeral Home.

Interment will follow in the Golden Gate Memorial Gardens.

Frances Kearney Aldridge

Frances Kearney Aldridge, 88, of Stantonsburg, passed away peacefully on Friday, Dec. 14, 2018, at her home.

Frances was born in Greene County on Oct. 10, 1930, to the late Henry Lee Kearney and Clyde Wade Kearney. She was married to the late Isaac Leonard Aldridge Jr. who preceded her in death on June 23, 2000. Frances was a member of Eureka United Methodist Church.

She was the kindest and most loving mother and grandmother and a great friend to everyone. Frances loved children and will be remembered by many as the neighborhood babysitter. She had a great love for quilting and enjoyed working with flowers, as always shown in her yard. Frances will be missed by all who were blessed enough to know her.

The family will receive friends on Monday, Dec. 17, 2018, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service to celebrate Frances’ life at 7:30 p.m. in the chapel, with the Rev. Connie Belmore officiating. Interment will be on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2018, at 10 a.m. in the Eureka Cemetery.

Frances is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth D. Ramsey (Benjamin) of Spruce Creek, Pa., Lori Aldridge (Mack Talton) of Stantonsburg, and Pam Yelverton (John) of Stantonsburg; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by special nieces, Wanda Derry and Jennifer Whitfield; and sister-in-law, Ida Jackson.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Ikey Aldridge; brothers, Harvey Kearney and Henry Heber Kearney; and sister, Minnie Evelyn Perry.

Jeremy Edward Grady, 43-year-old son of Carroll E. and Diana Murphey Grady of the Rhodes Church area, Mount Olive, passed away early Saturday morning, Dec. 15, 2018, at Wayne hospital.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, Dec. 19, at 7 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home, with the Rev. Carroll Overman officiating, followed by visitation. Burial will be Thursday, Dec. 20, at 2 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park. The family appreciates flowers or donations toward expenses.

Jeremy, a 1993 graduate of Southern Wayne High School, had attended Wayne Community College and Lenoir Community College. While he had been a truck driver for a short time, he was employed with his father in swine production for most of his life. It was at Rhodes Friends Meeting that he was taught about God and the Bible. He was a gifted guitarist and was fascinated by guitars. He also was a loyal Bon Jovi fan and had a deep love for animals.

In addition to his parents, Jeremy is survived by a son, Tyler Edward Grady of Las Vegas, Nev.; three sisters, Laura Grady Read of Rosewood, Patti Grady Lane of Dudley, and Sherry Grady Holmes of Mount Olive; his grandmother, Cleo A. Grady of Mount Olive; several aunts, uncles, and cousins, and many special friends. He is also survived by Grace Causey of Mount Olive, who recently had become very dear to his heart.

Allen Miller

Allen “Jim” Miller, 73, 104 Duffy Drive, died Tuesday at Wayne UNC Health Care.

Funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at New Stoney Hill United Holy Church. Burial will be in Carver Memorial Park.

He was born June 14, 1945, in Wayne County to Charlie and Mary Merrick Miller. He was married to Myrtle Bynum Miller.

He is survived by a child.

Visitation Tuesday 2 to 6 p.m. at Haskins Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the home, where it will assemble for the funeral procession.

Leroy Christopher Branch, 66, 409 Mercer St., died Thursday at home.

Funeral will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at St. Stephen Holy Church. Burial will be at Theodore and Annie Branch Cemetery.

He was born Feb. 12, 1952, in Duplin County to Theodore and Annie Lucille McGowan Branch.

He is survived by two daughters.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 3 to 6 p.m. at J.B. Rhodes Funeral Home and Cremations.

Billy Joe Smith, 54, died Friday at Vidant Healthcare, Greenville.

There will be no formal service.

He was the son of Faye Smith and the late Kenneth Smith.

He is survived by three children.

Mary Joyce Davenport Kornegay, 73, Seven Springs, died Friday at Wayne UNC Health Care.

Funeral will be Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jeff Kearney officiating. Interment will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Pineview Cemetery.

She was born in Wayne County June 3, 1945, to the late Raymond Marlton and Gertrude Elizabeth Price Davenport.

She is survived by two sons and a daughter.

Leonard Guy Jordan

Leonard Guy Jordan, 70, of Fremont, died Saturday at home.

Funeral will be held at noon Wednesday in the Kenly Funeral Service chapel, with the Rev. Christian Powell officiating. Burial will follow in the White Oak Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

He was born in Wayne County on Feb. 7, 1948, to the late Talmadge Whitfield and Hazel Tedder Jordan. He was married to the late Susan Kay Jordan.

He is survived by two daughters.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
