Timothy Bryan Daw, 58, Pikeville, passed away suddenly Thursday, Dec. 6, 2018, at his home.

Tim was born in Wayne County Dec. 14, 1959, to the late Marvin and Margaret Sox Daw.

He was a retired distributor with Pepperidge Farm.

His strong work ethic, sense of humor, loyalty and generosity were well known and cherished by those he encountered throughout his life.

Tim loved sports, fishing and his family.

He found joy in simple pleasures: Visits from family and friends, a Dallas Cowboy win or time with his dogs, especially Bubba. We were lucky to have Tim in our lives, and the world will be a sadder place without him.

A service to celebrate Tim’s life will be held Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2018, at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with his nephew, the Rev. Jeff Daw, officiating.

The family will greet friends in the hour before the service at Seymour Funeral Home.

Tim is survived by his wife of 15 years, Robin Mitchell Daw; son, Timothy Brandon Daw; brothers, Bob Wayne Daw and wife, Phyllis, Marvin Ray Daw and wife, Diane, and Tony Vaughn Daw and wife, Linda; and the apple of his eye, his grandson, Bryant Scott Daw.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests you give memorials in Tim’s memory to the Wayne County Animal Shelter, 1600 Clingman St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.

David R. Peele, 75, Pikeville, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2018.

Funeral Monday 2 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery (old section), Fremont, conducted by the Rev. Allen Strickland.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Dianne Rose Peele; brothers, Buck Peele (Geraldine) and John Peele (Jackie); sister-in-law, Joan Peele all of Pikeville; his precious fur baby, Oakley; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death was a baby daughter; brother, James Peele; and his parents, Ernest and Sadie Peele.

He was employed by Case Farms for nearly 49 years.

The Peele family would like to thank Community Hospice, especially Sheree and Carol, for the wonderful care that David received.

The family will be at the home of Dianne’s mother, Faye Rose, 801 Nahunta Road, Pikeville.

Mr. Hildrom Devaughn Fisher, 83, 103 Hines Drive, Goldsboro, died Wednesday at Wayne UNC Health Care in Goldsboro.

The funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 11, at 11 a.m. at Jerusalem Free Will Baptist Church, 395 Jerusalem Church Road, Seven Springs, N.C. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park, U.S. 117, Goldsboro, N.C.

The public viewing will be Monday from 3 to 6 p.m. at Central Heights Church, 302 Ervin Drive, Goldsboro, N.C. The family will meet at the residence Tuesday at 9:45 a.m. in preparation for the funeral procession.

Flowers may be delivered at Central Heights Church Monday from 2 to 6 p.m. or at Stevens Funeral Home.

James Donald Hunt, 82, passed away peacefully Nov. 30, 2018, in Goldsboro, N.C.

Mr. Hunt served for 31 years in the United States Air Force, retiring at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base at the rank of chief master sergeant.

He went on to work with the U.S. Postal Service and Spence’s Lawn Mower Repair.

A devoted husband and father, Mr. Hunt is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ginger Loretta Hunt; his children, Sandra Hardison, Ron Hunt and his wife, Lisa, Sheila Shearon and her husband, Mark, and Serena Hunt; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; sister, Colleen Hibbard; sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Tom Hall; and his brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Barbara Hunt.

A celebration of life service will be held Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018, from 2 to 4 at Community Baptist Church in LaGrange, N.C.

Carl Ray Outlaw Sr., 67, Odom’s Mill Road, Mount Olive, passed away Friday morning, Dec. 7, 2018, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 11, at 3 p.m. from the Tyndall Funeral chapel, with burial following in Grady/ Outlaw Cemetery off of Emmaus Church Road, Dudley, N.C. Officiating will be the Rev. Terry Heath.

Visitation will be at Tyndall Funeral Home before the service, beginning at 2 p.m.

Mr. Outlaw served in the United States Army, and was an auto body repairman.

Formerly a member of the Ghost Riders Motorcycle Group, he was an avid outdoorsman with a love for animals, especially dogs and cats.

Very dear to him was his family, and he had a special love and admiration for his mother.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Rebecca Watts Outlaw; his mother, Edith Anderson Outlaw of Deep Run; two sons, Staff Sgt. Carl Ray Outlaw Jr. and wife, Jocelyn, of Goldsboro and Kenneth Wayne Outlaw and wife, Rhonda, of Beulaville; two sisters, Brenda Smith and husband, Gerald, of Deep Run and Linda Davis and husband, Jeff, of Seven Springs; 10 grandchildren to include Eric, Joshua and Alyssa Outlaw; and two great-grandchildren, Brendan and Steven Outlaw.

His father was the late Rev. Loren M. Outlaw.

Betty Jane Howell Cooke, 88, died Thursday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Graveside service will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Pikeville Cemetery, with pastor Christian Powell officiating.

Born in Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late Johnny Daniel Howell and Annie Irene Lewis Howell. She was married to James Cooke.

She is survived by two sons and a daughter. Arrangements are by Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home and Crematory.

Norma Jean Barnes, 74, died at Vidant Medical Center, Greenville, Thursday.

Dr. Richard O. Dougherty, 87, died at the home of his son and daughter-in-law and grandchildren, Paul E. and Louise W. Dougherty, Conner O., Spencer P. and Cailin E. Dougherty.

He was born Jan. 23,1931, to Gordon William and Helen Vopicka Dougherty. He was married to the late Sharon Boyle Dougherty.

He is survived by four children.

He was born in Burlington to the late Thomas Yancey and Andrea Frances Cornelia Pleasant Barnwell. He was married to Mary “Betsy” Barnwell.

He is survived by three children.

He was born Dec. 30, 1938, in Sampson County to Tommie and Katie Blackmon Robinson.
