Nova Ann Rhodes, 67, Goldsboro, passed away at her home Monday, Dec. 10, 2018.

She was born Sept. 6, 1951, in Wayne County to the late Ira Daniel Rhodes Sr. and Ellen Lucille Edwards Rhodes.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Eldean R. Pierce.

The funeral service will be held in the chapel of Casey Funeral Home and Cremations Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Rudolph West Jr. officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018, in the chapel of Casey Funeral Home and Cremations.

The family is also receiving friends at the home of Mae and Tommy Sutton at 105 Glover Drive, Princeton, N.C., 27569.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Mae Sutton and husband, Tommy, of Princeton; brother, Ira Daniel Rhodes Jr. of Goldsboro; sister, Rebecca Rhodes West and husband, Rudolph Jr., of Fremont; four grandchildren, Sarah Holland, Daniel Holland, Emily Siniavsky and Dakota Sutton; and three nephews.

Crystal Dawn Mitchell, 24, Patetown Road North, Goldsboro, died Tuesday at Duke Medical Center in Durham.

Funeral service will be Thursday at 6 p.m. at Faith Free Will Baptist Church. The Rev. Christian Powell and the Rev. Walter Sloan will officiate.

The family will receive friends following the funeral in the sanctuary.

Committal service will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.

Surviving are her parents, Dennis E. and Nancy B. Mitchell; sister, Karie Mitchell Banks of Raleigh; brothers, Bobby Mitchell and Jesse Mitchell of the home; a number of aunts and uncles and cousins; and her church family.

Mary Belle Edgerton Aycock, 90, was called home Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2018, while surrounded by her family.

The life she lived, one of grace and Christian love, could not be diminished as she grew older. Her sweet smile and gentle ways will be remembered by everyone that knew her.

Mary Belle was born in Wayne County Jan. 17, 1928, to the late Ira Franklin Edgerton and Virginia Sasser Edgerton. She was married for 67 years to Charles “Bud” Aycock.

Mary Belle had worked with R.G. Barry of Goldsboro, and for more than 20 years, volunteered at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

She was a member of Nahunta Friends Meeting, where she served with the Women’s Missionary Society of Nahunta Friends.

Mary Belle always enjoyed quilting and serving with the ladies auxiliary at Little River Volunteer Fire Department.

Mary Belle will be remembered for her unconditional love as a wife and mother and a friend to all. So, too, will she be remembered for her compassionate spirit and soul and her gift of finding joy in doing random acts of kindness for others.

Family was paramount to Mary Belle, and she loved nothing more than her husband, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was the embodiment of love as we have been taught by our Savior, Christ Jesus.

A service to celebrate Mary Belle’s life will be held Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018, at 6 p.m. in the sanctuary of The First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Goldsboro, with the Rev. Eric Woods and the Rev. Tom Dorman officiating.

The family will greet friends Saturday following the service in the Ministry Training Center and other times at the home of Mike and Judy Aycock in Pikeville.

Interment will be Sunday, Dec. 16, 2018, at 3 p.m. in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Mary Belle is survived by her children, Mike Aycock and wife, Judy, Susan Anderson and husband, Billy, and Walton Aycock and wife, Robin, all of Pikeville; her son-in-law, Charles Massengill and wife, Frances, of Pikeville; her grandchildren, Marcy Lamm, Holly Aycock, Tim Aycock and wife, Kathy, Amy Gambill and husband, Phillip, Frank Sauls, Bill Anderson and wife, Christy, Marti Jones and husband, Stevie, Hannah Niemasz and husband, Jon, and Jenna Sippy and husband, Wyatt; great-grandchildren, Jase, Jada, Kyleigh, Layson, McKenzie, Seth, Tate, Dallas, Dakota, Charley, Hinton, Gracelyn and Kristen; sister, Janis Whitley; brother, Ben Edgerton and wife, Kathy; and sisters-in-law, Elaine Edgerton and Annie Lou Edgerton.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Virginia “Jenny” Aycock Massengill; grandson, Daniel Smith; sisters, Alma Lewis and Alice Sasser; and brothers, Franklin Edgerton, J.T. Edgerton and Robert Edgerton.

Robert Swindell Sorrell, 81, Fremont, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2018, at Wayne UNC Health Care in Goldsboro.

Robert was born in Craven County Nov. 7, 1937, to the late Clifton and Liney Franks Sorrell.

He was a valued employee of Nahunta Pork Center for many years.

Robert was a hard-working man, which was the theme of his life; he lived to work. He was the kind of man who was loyal to his family, who took great pride in caring and providing for them.

Above all, he loved serving his Lord at Faro Chapel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, where he was a longtime member and where he served as the Sunday school superintendent.

The family will receive friends Sunday, Dec. 16, 2018, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service to celebrate his life at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel, with the Rev. Dr. Don Sauls and the Rev. James Gurkins officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Fremont.

Robert is survived by his wife, Hazel Hamm Sorrell; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Billy Sullivan of Fremont; son and daughter-in-law, Clifton “Cliff” and Mary Ann Sorrell of Fremont; grandchildren, Lynn Parrish and husband, David, of Pikeville, Ginger Wright and husband, Matt, of Goldsboro, Joshua Sorrell and wife, Kinsey, of Wilmington and Andrew Sorrell of Zebulon; stepgranddaughter, Ashleigh Lyons; and four great-grandchildren, Samantha Parrish, Tyler Parrish, Gage Wright and Gunner Wright.

He is also survived by his brothers, James Sorrell and wife, Dorothy, of Wilson and Vernon Sorrell and wife, Shirley, of LaGrange.
