Deadra “Deddie” Autry Mitchell, 65, Goldsboro, went from labor to reward Monday, Dec. 17, at Wayne UNC Health Care.

She was born June 20, 1953, in Wayne County to Wilbert Pemberton and Barbara Autry Whitfield.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Bear Creek Headquarters. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

Her love and legacy will forever be cherished by her children, Douglas R. Mitchell Jr. (Kara) of Fuquay-Varina, N.C., and Nicholas Mitchell (Cristie) of Charlotte, N.C.; four grandsons, Anthony, Ashton, Aiden and Mason Mitchell; one sister, Ava Whitfield Johnson of Winnabow, N.C.; two brothers, William Whitfield (Fay) of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Milton D. Whitfield (Amanda) of Dudley, N.C.; and a host of other family, friends and professional medical colleagues.

Barbara Jones Flowers, 78, Calypso resident, passed away Tuesday evening, Dec. 18, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted Friday, Dec. 21, at 11 a.m. in the Calypso Cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. Russ Evans.

Barbara was the last survivor of nine children born to their late parents, Charlie E. and Suddie Davis Jones.

She was an excellent seamstress, and had been a child care provider.

She is survived by her husband, William J. “Buddy” Flowers of the home; two sons, Marshall Cooke and wife, Elaine, of LaGrange and Jeff Cooke and his companion, Peggy Lee, of Calypso; five grandchildren, Alyssa Cooke, Casey Kelly, Gary Mark Tillman, Holly Lee and friend, Matt Stone, and Brandon Lee and wife, Keena; seven great-grandchildren, Braylon Lee, Rhylea Kelly, Clay Tillman, Devin Lee, Jacob Lee, Ariana Lee and Addy Stone; and several nieces and nephews.

George Marvin Cotton, 82, Calypso resident, passed away early Wednesday morning, Dec. 19, 2018, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

His life will be remembered in a graveside service to be held Friday, Dec. 21, at 2 p.m. in Calypso Cemetery. The Rev. Paul Rose will be officiating.

He was a longtime farmer, and was an agribusinessman.

Surviving him are his wife, Zadie Bell Knowles Cotton; a son, Buck Cotton and wife, Vicky; two daughters, Jane C. Hedrick and husband, Dale, and Betty Lou C. Grady and husband, Steve, all of the Mount Olive area; four grandchildren, Rebecca Watson and husband, David, Jeffrey Coats and wife, Brittany, Stephen Grady and wife, Lauren, and Vanessa Cotton; and six great-grandchildren, Cooper Watson, Lillie Coats, Eric Coats, Savannah Grady, Jordan Heath and Ashley Heath.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Stuart Grady; his parents, Gilbert H. and Addie Tadlock Cotton; a sister, Sadie M. Price; and two brothers, William Henry Cotton and John Thomas Cotton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534, would be appreciated.
