David Keith Smith, 54, Kinston, passed away at UNC Lenoir Health Care Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2019.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Jessie Smith.
Keith was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and University of North Carolina fan.
He loved his granddaughter, Ella, very deeply, and talked about her all the time.
Keith worked at Caswell Center, where he loved his second family.
He had a lot of love and compassion in his heart for people and God.
Keith will be greatly missed.
Keith is survived by his wife, Rhonda Smith; daughter, Destiny Smith; sons, Benjamin Smith and wife, Mary, and Justin Smith; grandchild, Ella Smith; brother-in-law, Randy Jarman; sister-in-law, Carol Jarman; nephews, Landon Allcox and Logan Potter; aunts, Newt Chase and Blanche; a very special part of the family, Jordan Smith and George Smith; and many other family members and friends.
Funeral service will begin 2 p.m. at Howard-Carter Funeral Home Saturday, Feb. 2, 2019, with pastor Allen Ham officiating.
Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service.
Graveside service will be held at Fairview Cemetery in LaGrange, N.C., following the funeral service.
Howard-Carter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Rachel Powers Walker, 94, died Monday at Hospice Savannah, Ga.
Funeral will be at Rose Hill Funeral Home chapel, Rose Hill, noon Saturday, with the Rev. Josephine Newkirk officiating. Interment will be at Duplin Memorial Gardens, Teachey.
She is survived by two sons and three daughters.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. to noon Saturday at the funeral home.

He was married to Nora Mae Hunt.
He is survived by three children and several stepchildren.

Meatrice Mae Oates, 71, Mount Olive, died Sunday at Vidant Medical Center, Greenville.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Garris Funeral Home chapel, with apostle Preston Grimes officiating. Burial will be in Carver Cemetery.
Born in Duplin County, she was the daughter of the late Ananias and Meatrice McClain Oates.
Visitation will be Saturday an hour prior to funeral.
