Donna Mae Clegg Goodridge, 86, Easley, S.C., wife of Carroll Merlyn Goodridge, passed away peacefully Friday, Feb. 1, 2019.

Born in Pickford, Mich., a daughter of the late Clinton Clegg Sr. and the late Clara Opal Byrdell Kerr Clegg, she was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed cooking, bowling, square dancing and traveling.

She was a Girl Scout troop leader for Troop 101 and a Red Cross volunteer in the pharmacy at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.

Mrs. Goodridge was of the Methodist faith.

Surviving, in addition to her husband of 64 years, are a son, Steven Carroll Goodridge (Linda) of Ocala, Fla.; daughters, Lonna M. White (Bob) of Las Vegas, Nev., Barbara Jo Goodridge Calvert of Easley, S.C., and Julee Kaye Sealor (Don) of Ranson, W.Va.; a brother, Clinton Clegg Jr. (Maggie) of Pickford, Mich.; a sister, Joanne Bezotte of Marquette, Mich.; grandchildren, Jennifer White, Kris White, Erik Sealor, Chase Sealor, Bryanna Sealor and Zac Calvert; and great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Nolan, Aiden White and Zackary White.

Along with her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Ronnie Lee Clegg.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Mr. Fred Harris passed away Friday, Feb. 1, 2019.

Mr. Harris’ funeral service will be held Thursday, Feb. 7, beginning at 6 p.m. at Brownings United Methodist Church, Mount Olive.

Visitation will follow the funeral service.

Mr. Harris will have a graveside service Friday, Feb. 8, in Hillcrest Cemetery at 11 a.m. Officiating the services will be the Rev. Arthur Warren, the Rev. Donald Massey and Garrett Strickland.

Fred was a loving husband and father for more than 60 years.

His loving wife, Anne Daughtry Harris, passed away just two months ago. Fred had been devoted to her care for the past 14 years.

Their three children enjoyed a life with adoring and devoted parents.

Fred was a gifted mechanic and Massey Ferguson restorer.

He was always looking for a deal on farm equipment.

Fred attended Brownings United Methodist Church, and received God into his heart Wednesday morning prior to his death.

Everyone will remember his quick smile, love of helping everyone he met and his strong work ethics. As he would say, “Get up and go to work.”

Left to cherish his fond memories are his children, Katie Vann and husband, Kern, of Mount Olive, Joyce H. King and friend, Richard Wilson, of Newton Grove and Shell Harris and wife, Lisa, of Mount Olive.

His grandchildren, Jason Vann and friend, Morgan Brown, Andrew and wife, Katie Vann, Elizabeth Parker and husband, Tim, Johnathon King and Ashley Joyner and husband, Johnny and Jeremy Harris.

Great-grandchildren, Cameron Joyner, Cheyanne Joyner, Lillie Parker, Audrey Parker, John Luke Parker and Eliza Vann.

Brother, Ed Harris.

Sisters, Dean Weaver and Hazel Mills.

Sister-in-law, Faye Sanderson.

Brothers-in-law, Tommy Daughtry and Bobby Daughtry and wife, Debbie.

Mr. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Zack and Rose Harris, and his beloved wife, Merinda “Anne” Harris.

Also, two brothers and two sisters.

The family will receive family and friends other times at the home of Shell and Lisa Harris, 6230 U.S. 13 South, Mount Olive, N.C.

Mrs. Evelyn Holden Shackelford, longtime Mount Olive resident, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2019, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center, Goldsboro.

She was born April 29, 1926, in Franklin County to the late Otha Thomas Holden and Mattie Pearce Holden.

She was preceded in death by her only sibling, Frances Holden McSwain.

She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Dr. Robert Hilliard Shackelford, and their three daughters, Brenda Shackelford Baldwin and husband, Barton, of Mount Olive, Jane Holden Shackelford of Mount Olive and Gail Shackelford Narron and husband, Johnny, of Smithfield.

Several grandchildren survive her, Nicole Baldwin Beale and husband, Seth, of Winston-Salem, Whit Baldwin and wife, Jenny, of Astoria, N.Y., Holden Royall of Raleigh, Julia Royall of Morehead City, Jane Royall Yarbrough and husband, Andrew, of Durham and Dr. John Narron Ill of Greenville, and three great-granddaughters, Evelyn (Evie) Beale, Betty Baldwin and Surrey Yarbrough.

Additional surviving family includes sister-in-law Rachel H. Shackelford of Greensboro, as well as many nieces and nephews, including her sister’s son, Wade McSwain and wife, Marian, of Albemarle.

Mrs. Shackelford was a 1944 graduate of Hugh Morson High School, Raleigh.

She completed nurses training (RN) at the North Carolina Baptist Hospital School of Nursing, Winston-Salem, in 1947.

While she was there, she met her future husband, Robert Shackelford of Kinston, who was attending Bowman Gray School of Medicine. They were married Dec. 20, 1947, and relocated to Mount Olive in 1949, where her husband established his medical practice.

She was an active member of First Baptist Church, Mount Olive, and was a volunteer in many community organizations, Wayne County Public Schools and the Wayne County Medical Auxiliary.

She was a great supporter of her husband’s medical career, and participated with him in his many active roles in the North Carolina Academy of Family Physicians and the American Academy of Family Physicians.

The Shackelford family would like to thank all who cared for Evelyn, especially her caregivers at home, Rhonda Smith and Dean Coats.

A special thank you to Dr. Hervy Kornegay, her physician, and also co-founder of Mount Olive Family Medicine Center, along with Dr. Shackelford.

A celebration of the life of Mrs. Evelyn Shackelford will be held Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Mount Olive. Dr. Dennis Atwood will officiate.

The family will receive friends in the sanctuary following the service.

Mrs. Shackelford brought laughter with her wry sense of humor to her family and friends. We are thankful that her laughter will remain with us.

Her loves were her husband, daughters and their families and the times they spent together at Atlantic Beach every summer.

She enjoyed her home and yard, fashion, decorating, flowers, friends, extended family and last but not least, chocolates and ice cream.

Janet Corbett Price, 84, Goldsboro, passed peacefully Saturday, Feb. 2, in Tulsa, Okla., while surrounded by her husband, two sons and daughter-in-law.

Mrs. Price leaves behind a loving husband of 64 years, Daniel G. Price; two sons, David (Elizabeth) of Jay, Okla., and Steven (Todd) of Jacksonville, Fla.; four grandchildren, Jennifer Womack (Tanner) of Oklahoma City, Okla., Bailey Wilson (Trey) of Portland, Texas, Lauren Rundle (Jeff) of Tulsa, Okla., and Griffin Price (Amanda) of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and 11 great-grandchildren, Hunter, Andrew, Avery and Quinn Womack, Grace, James and Elizabeth Wilson, Mathilda and Emeline Rundle and June and Hannah Price.

Also surviving are one sister and three brothers, Linda Edwards (Ronald), Gene Corbett (Hester), Gary Corbett (Joy) and Gordon Corbett (Jolene).

Janet was born in Hood Swamp July 19, 1934.

After several moves, she and Griffin settled down in Chesapeake, Va., where they raised their sons and attended DeBaun Baptist.

They retired in 1991, and returned to Hood Swamp, where she and Griffin attended Hood Swamp Friends. Janet taught Sunday school well more than 50 years, and loved to garden and work in her yard.

A memorial service will be held for Janet at Hood Swamp Friends Church at a date yet to be determined.

Margaret Lee Robinson, 77, 1448 Cobblestone Drive, Kinston, died Jan. 30 at Lenoir UNC Health Care, Kinston.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at J.B. Rhodes Funeral Home and Cremations.

She was born April 2, 1941, in Duplin County to Lula Williams.

She is survived by two children.

Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
