Ms. Esther Barnes Renfrow, 96, Rosewood community, was called from labor to reward Sunday, Feb. 3, 2019.

Ms. Renfrow was married to the late Mr. David Renfrow.

Ms. Renfrow is survived by four children, Gearldine Shearod (Charles) of Temple Hills, Md., Linda Renfrow Ruffin (Robert) of Goldsboro, N.C., Brenda R. Roach (Ramond) of Temple Hills, Md., and Alton Renfrow Sr. (Johnnie Mae) of Tucson, Ariz.; and 15 grandchildren.

She is also survived by many special relatives and friends.

She served her state for 25-plus years. 

A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Rocky Branch United Church of Christ, 5968 N.C. 581 North, Kenly. Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park, Goldsboro.

A viewing will be held Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Carrons Funeral Home, 325 E. Nash St., Wilson, and Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. 

The family is receiving friends on Rosewood Road, Goldsboro, and will assemble there at 9 a.m. Saturday in preparation for the funeral procession.

Died Feb. 5, 2019

Renee McRae Sparks, 53, Goldsboro, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2019, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill surrounded by her family. 

The family will receive friends Monday, Feb. 11, 2019, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.

A service to celebrate Renee’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2019, at Love Memorial Baptist Church, with the Rev. Richard Toler, the the Rev. Frank Purvis and the Rev. Steven Burrow officiating. Interment will be in Wayne Memorial Park.

Renee is survived by her husband of 29 years, Jeff Sparks; son, Matthew Ryan Sparks; daughter, Casey Nicole Sparks; mother, Patricia Pittman McRae; sisters, Ann M. Smith and husband, Chris, and Leigh M. Cox and husband, Dean; and her niece and nephews, Maggie Smith, Blake Smith, Josh Cox and Drew Cox. 

She is also survived by her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Evelyn and Bob Sparks; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Craig and Kim Sparks; and their children, Tim and Tyler.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in her memory to the Lineberger Cancer Comprehensive Center,, or the local charity of one’s choice.

Jean Carol Jones, 83, died Tuesday at Wayne UNC Health Care.

Visitation will be Sunday from 1 to 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a funeral at 2 p.m. in the chapel, with pastor Allison Lancaster officiating. Interment will be Monday at 10 a.m. in Wayne Memorial Park.

She was born in Wayne County on July 21, 1935, to the late Joseph Eddie and Emily Leona Beamon Jones.

Travis Hinnant, 39, 405 Speight Ave., Tarboro, died Jan. 20 at Vidant Medical Center.

Funeral will be noon at Atkins Memorial Tabernacle, Sims. Burial will be in Fremont Cemetery.

He was born April 12, 1979, in Wilson County.

Visitation will be at the church an hour prior to the service. The family will assemble at 1004 First St., Wilson, for the funeral cortege.

Bonnie Godwin Woodard, 82, died at Woodard Care Wednesday. 

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Casey Funeral Home and Cremations of Princeton.

She was born Oct. 12, 1936, in Johnston County to the late Ellie Hugh and Zella Melissa Hines Godwin. She was married to the late Raymond Cox Woodard.

She is survived by a daughter.

Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
