Mr. Thadis Coley II, 58, 504 W. New Hope Road, Goldsboro, passed Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2019, surrounded by his family at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

The celebration of his life is Sunday, Feb. 24, 2019, 3 p.m. at Bear Creek Association Headquarters, 1800 S. Slocumb St., Goldsboro, N.C.; apostle Daniel L. Uzzell of Wave of Glory Church officiating. He will be laid to rest Monday, Feb. 25, 2019, 10 a.m. at Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, 164 Longs Plant Farm Road, Goldsboro, N.C.

There will be a viewing held Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019, from 4 to 7 p.m. (the family present 5:30 to 7) at J.B. Rhodes Funeral Home and Cremations Inc., 1701 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, N.C.

He was born in Wayne County, N.C., to the late Thadis and Alice Coley.

He is survived by his sons, Thadis Coley III of New York, N.Y., and Marquis L. Noble Sr. (Rachel) of Charlotte, N.C.; five sisters, Gwendolyn C. Aultman (Jeffrey) of Dudley, Annie Mae Stokes (Ronnie) of Goldsboro, Shyrese C. Bowden (James) of Elm City, Gladys C. Branch (Gerald) of Rocky Mount and Wanda Corbin Robinson (MacArthur) Nashville, N.C.; two grandchildren; his loving former wife, Antoinette Coley-Sanders; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Effie Mae Odom, 90, longtime Mount Olive resident, member of Baker’s Chapel Presbyterian Church of Mount Olive, former sales clerk with Leder Brothers and Farmer’s Cooperative Exchange (FCX), former employee of Young Squire Industries and former operator of Army Surplus Store, all in Mount Olive, passed away Wednesday morning, Feb. 20, in Concord, where she had lived the last few years to be near her daughter.

Surviving her are a daughter, Tammy Odom Pittman and husband, the Rev. Larry Pittman, of Concord; three brothers, Jarvis Odom of Mount Olive, Bryant Odom of Durham and Tommy Odom of Southmont, N.C.; grandchildren, Renee P. Campbell and husband, Donovan, Samuel Pittman and wife, Camille, Brian Neil Odom and wife, Jessica, Christopher Odom and Christy Pittman (widow of deceased grandson, Graham Anthony Pittman); 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive Saturday, Feb. 23, at 1 p.m., with graveside rites to follow at 2 p.m. in Maplewood Cemetery at which the Rev. Larry Pittman will preside.

Mrs. Odom was preceded in death by her husband, Faison Odom; a son, Brian Odom; a grandson, Graham Anthony Pittman; parents, William Francis “France” Odom and Glendora “Glennie” Weaver Odom; a brother, W.F. “Bud” Odom Jr.; and sisters, Irene O. Flowers and Geneva O. Rigsbee.

Died Feb. 20, 2019

Agnes Howell Vann, 97, Goldsboro, passed away Wednesday at SECU Hospice House in Smithfield.

She had worked for many years as a pharmacy technician with Raper Drugs.

The family will receive friends Sunday, Feb. 24, 2019, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service to celebrate Agnes’ life at 2 p.m. in the chapel. Interment will be in Wayne Memorial Park.

He was born in Wayne County to the late Julius and Odessa Bynum Troublefield.

Kenneth R. Moore Sr., 88, 407 Hamilton Drive, died Thursday at home.

He was born Oct. 6, 1930, in Fort Huron, Mich., to Reginald and Madeline Hesson Moore. He was married to Rachel Braswell Moore.

He is survived by his sons.
