Eleanor Lancaster Smith

April 7, 1936-Jan. 27, 2019

Eleanor Lancaster Smith, 82, returned home to our Lord and Savior after a long valiant fight against cancer Jan. 27, 2019, at 7:40 p.m. at Kitty Askins.

Eleanor was born April 7, 1936, to the late Silas and Mildred Lancaster of Wayne County, N.C.

From her birth until her final breath, she covered everyone in love, prayer and a comforting peace that only she could.

Eleanor was devoted to her family. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

During her fight with cancer, she did not complain one time or feel bad for herself; she knew God was in control over her life. Eleanor would say, “Don’t be sad for me, I know where I am going. I know I will no longer suffer, and God is going to take care of me. Grieve a little bit and live a little bit. We will see each other again.”

She is survived by four sisters, Inez Vail, Faye Massey, Louise Howell and Grace Howell; two daughters, Debbie (Ron) Berry and Glenda (Wayne) Ketchuck; one son, Mark (Susan) Davis; four grandchildren, Gary Bell Jr. (Nikki), Sherry (Larry) Lane, Jason (Darlene) Gibson and Jason (Crystal) Hamilton; and several great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Seymour Funeral Home Friday, Feb. 1, 2019, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., with a graveside service following at Wayne Memorial Park at 3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.

Online condolences may be sent to www.seymourfuneralhome.com.
