Donald Wayne Meador

Died Jan. 17, 2019

Donald Wayne Meador, 53, Whiting, N.J., died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2019, peacefully at his home in Whiting.

Born at March Air Force Base in Sunnymead, Calif., he had traveled to every continent with the exception of Antarctica and Australia, prior to moving to Whiting in early 2018.

During his 26-year military career in the United States Air Force, he spent 22 years in the security forces, and his remaining years as a first sergeant.

He retired from the Air Force in 2010 as a master sergeant, and went on to work as a civil servant for the United States Naval Weapons Station Earle in Colts Neck, N.J., until retiring in the spring of 2017.

Donald was an active member of his church, Columbus Baptist Church in Columbus, N.J.

He enjoyed, traveling, watching movies, woodworking and nature, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Donald is survived by his mother, Sue; his father, Henry (Myrna); his wife, Rosalind; and his three daughters, Rachel (Michael), Michelle and Caroline (Christian).

Donald will be lovingly remembered by his three grandchildren, Ben, Hanna and William, as well as his two stepchildren, Michael (Jamie) and Abigail (Cameron).

The family would like to extend its gratitude to Grace Healthcare Services, the ALS Foundation and the Joan Dancy Foundation, as well as Dina Valdez, his homecare nurse.

Services were held Saturday, Jan. 19, from noon to 2 p.m. at “the family-owned” Carmona Bolen Home for Funerals, 66 Lacey Road, Whiting.

Lynn Howell Harden

Lynn Howell Harden, 63, Wilson, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2019.

Funeral, Monday, 3 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church, 3624 Raleigh Road Parkway West, Wilson, followed by visitation.

She was preceded in death by her father, Norwood Howell; mother and stepfather, Pauline Rose Peacock and Jackie Peacock; and a sister, Shirley Evans.

Lynn is survived by her husband, Nelson Harden; son, Joey Parrish of Kenly; granddaughter, Jessie Lynn Parrish of the United States Army, Korea; sister, Rose McVey (Mack) of Kenly; and brothers, Wayne Howell (Ann) of Fremont and Danny Ray Howell (Cindy) of Leesville, La.

Kay H. Kearney

Sept. 3, 1936-Jan. 18, 2019

Mrs. Kay Hardison Kearney, 82, Goldsboro, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2019.

A native of Greene County, she was born Sept. 3, 1936, the daughter of William Arthur and Beadie Beaman Hardison.

Kay was a graduate of Snow Hill High School, and had retired from the Wayne County school system.

She was a member of Walnut Creek Free Will Baptist Church, where she attended until declining health forced her into a skilled care environment.

One of 12 children, Kay was preceded in death by all of her siblings, in addition to her parents.

Her surviving family includes her husband of 64 years, Richard Harold Kearney Sr.; children, Joan Kearney Price and husband, Lee, of Goldsboro, Rick Kearney and wife, Susan, of Kinston and David Kearney and wife, Karen, of Pikeville; grandchildren, Nikki Newlin, Kelly Jones, Samuel Kearney, Noah Kearney and Mary Grace Kearney; and great-grandchildren, Katlyn Bradford, Hannah Jones and Sarah Newlin.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, at the chapel of Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service, with the Rev. Tony McLamb officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Mewborn Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1 to 1:45 p.m., prior to the service.

James Earl Sutton, 85, 1015 Dollard Town Road, died Wednesday at home.

Funeral will be held Tuesday 1 p.m. at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, LaGrange. Burial will be in Sutton Cemetery.

He was born Nov. 24, 1933, to Williams and Virginia Fullwood Sutton.

He is survived by six children.

Visitation Monday 2 to 6 p.m., with the family present 5 to 6, at Haskins Funeral Home. At other times, the family will receive friends at 222 Dollard Town Road.

He was the son of Woodrow and Hildegard Holloman, and husband of Pam B. Holloman.

She was born Sept. 20, 1951, in Duplin County to Edward and Annie Ruth Kornegay. She was married to James “Bud” Elliott.
