Daniel Benton

Daniel Benton

Daniel Benton

Died July 1, 2019

Funny, charming and full of life are the words often used to describe Daniel Benton.

Daniel was always our mischievous one; we were on a first name basis with every school principal Daniel ever had.

Our precious baby boy left us July 1, 2019. He died as he lived, and did it his way.

We will forever miss those twinkling blue eyes and quick smile that he won people over with immediately.

Daniel graduated from Southwest High School in Jacksonville, N.C., in May 2013. He played football at Southwest, and was the defensive MVP his senior year.

Daniel went on to Chowan University, where he continued to play football his freshman year.

Most recently, Daniel was a Realtor with Keller Williams in New Bern, and loved helping people find the perfect home.

Left behind to treasure his memory are his loving parents, J. Vann Benton and Lisa Ward Benton, and his older brother, Capt. James Isaac Benton, United States Army, and fianceé, Casey Lei Giambalvo.

Daniel is also survived by his paternal grandparents, J.B. and Eunice Benton of Fremont, N.C.

He was the grandson of the late Daniel Clayton Ward Jr. and Mary Underwood Ward.

A celebration of Daniel’s life will be held at River Bend Country Club located at 94 Shoreline Drive, New Bern, N.C., Friday, July 5, 2019, from 1 to 3 p.m. Please dress casually as that is what Daniel would have wanted.

At the family’s request, please do not send flowers, please make donations to the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention (AFSP).

Arrangements by Cotton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Online condolences may be made to the Benton family at www.cottenfuneralhome.com.
