Eugene Arthur Taylor Jr. of Goldsboro, N.C., died early Friday morning, June 21, while at his second home in Atlantic Beach, N.C.

Gene was born on Feb. 3, 1943, in Wilmington, N.C., and grew up in Beulaville, N.C., graduating from Beulaville High School in 1961. After graduation, he married his high school sweetheart, Jenny Williams, and began a 33-year career in the automobile industry, first as a Chevrolet salesman at Richlands Motor Sales, in Richlands, N.C., where he eventually became the dealer, and later at Gene Taylor Chevrolet in Goldsboro, N.C., from 1983 until his retirement from the business in 1994. Since then, he has worked in commercial real estate investments and management, in part through Taylor Leasing Enterprises, the family business he founded.

Gene is survived by his wife, Jenny Williams Taylor, of Goldsboro, N.C.; by his son and daughter-in-law, Art Taylor and Tara Laskowski, and grandson, Dashiell Taylor, of Fairfax, Va.; and by his son, Jason Taylor, of Goldsboro, N.C. He is also survived by his older brother, Benford Shepard, of Pickerington, Ohio, and his younger sister, Ester Sumner, of Beulaville, N.C.

Gene loved his family, who always came first.

At his request, no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Triangle/Eastern North Carolina chapter of the American Heart Association.

Jimmy Lee Beasley, 50, of Pikeville, passed away suddenly on Friday, June 21, 2019, at his home.

Jimmy was born in Wayne County on June 29, 1968, to Linda Corbett Beasley and the late William Ray Beasley.

Jimmy lived an adventurous life and traveled across the country trading and selling horses. He had a generous heart and gave all he could to his family and strangers alike.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 27, 2019, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service celebrating Jimmy’s life at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Berry House officiating. A private interment will be in the Pikeville Cemetery.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his sister, Tammy Wingard Turnage (Tony); brother, Scott Beasley (Megan) of Pikeville and nephews, Chris Wingard, Kyle Wingard, Chase Hare, Collin Beasley and Jake Beasley. He is also survived by his aunt, Brenda Hales; and uncle, Donald Corbett.
