Maggie H. Hood, 96, Goldsboro, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, June 15, 2019, surrounded by her family.

Maggie was born in Wayne County on July 16, 1922, to the late Bill and Gertrude Grantham Hood. She was a member of Selah Christian Church. Maggie was a farm girl at heart and lived a full life as a wonderful mother and homemaker. Most of all, she loved her family and instilled in her children strong values that have served them well. Maggie will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall at Selah Christian Church from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 18, 2019, followed by a service to celebrate Maggie’s life at 11 a.m. in the sanctuary, with the Rev. Patrick Muston officiating. Interment will be in Falling Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Maggie is survived by her husband of almost 79 years, James I. Hood; children, Trudy Hinson, Jimmy Hood and wife, Rita, Grover Hood and wife, Teresa, Linda Overton and husband, Daryll, and Glenn Hood and wife, Betsy; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Billy Hood and sisters, Gertrude Partin, Dessie Kornegay and Jessie Littleton.

Special thanks to Community Home Care and Hospice as well as to the caregivers who cared for Maggie and her family in so many kind and thoughtful ways through these recent months and during this time of loss.

Lori Coker Cerullo, 51, died at her home in the Grantham community on Saturday, June 15.

She is survived by her mother, Brenda B. Coker of the home; her four children, Timothy Cerullo Jr., Mathew Cerullo, Wesley Cerullo, and Robert Lee Gary IV, all of Goldsboro; a sister, Karen Preston and husband, Carl, of Florida; and four grandchildren, William, Isabella, Wesley Jr., and Arista Cerullo.

Lori was preceded in death by her father, Willie H. Coker.

Lori enjoyed working alongside her parents in the construction and interior remodeling and painting business. She loved her boys, and trips to the beach.

Her life will be remembered with a graveside service on Tuesday, June 18, 2019, at 11 o'clock in the morning in the Seven Springs Methodist Church Cemetery, "the church on the Hill." The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the cemetery. The Rev. Barry Weyant will officiate.

Lillian Tate Outlaw, 91, of 706 S. Andrews Ave., Goldsboro, N.C., died Friday at the UNC Chapel Hill Hospital.

She was born Dec. 20, 1927, in Wayne County to William and Frances Corbett Tate.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. in the Wayne Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Haskins Funeral Home and Cremations.

She is survived by her loving husband, Willie Outlaw of the home; her children, Dorothy Lee Hobbs and Linda McBride of Goldsboro; and a host other loving relatives and friends.

The family will assemble at the residence in preparation for the funeral procession. Arrangements are by Haskins Funeral Home and Cremations.

Miriam Tucker Quinn, 96, Magnolia, died Friday at Harmony Hall in Kinston.

Graveside service was held Sunday at 2 p.m. in Devotional Gardens, Warsaw, with the Rev. Ronnie Ezzell officiating.

She was born on May 20, 1923, to the late Julius and Florence Tucker, and married to the late Bertice Quinn.

She is survived by four children.

Michael Dewayne Morris, 59, 511 W. Ash St., died Monday at Wayne UNC Health Care.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday at noon in the James T. Haskins Memorial Chapel at Haskins Funeral Home.

He was born Oct. 4, 1959, in Wayne County to Elijah and Charity Mae Herring Morris, and is survived by four children.

Thelma Gardner Ezzell, 85, died Sunday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Funeral will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Black Jack Free Will Baptist Church, with Pastor Cliff Harwood officiating. Burial will be at the Woodland Friends Cemetery.

Born in Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late Albert B. Gardner and the late Rosa Anderson Gardner Creech, and wife of the late Arnold Ezzell.

She is survived by four children.

The family will greet friends Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. at the church prior to the service.
