It is with sad and heavy hearts that the staff and management of J.B. Rhodes Funeral Home and Cremations announce the passing of one of our own, Mr. Curtis W. Johnson Sr., 56, formerly of Lightner Memorial Funeral Home, Goldsboro, passed Monday, March 25, 2019.
The celebration of his life will be held Saturday, March 30, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Best Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 1065 Tommy’s Road, Goldsboro, N.C., with the Rev. Joe A. Jackson officiating. He will be laid to rest at Wayne Memorial Park North, 1191 Old Grantham Road, Goldsboro, N.C., with military honors.
He will lie in state in J.B. Rhodes Jr. Memorial Chapel at J.B. Rhodes Funeral Home and Cremations, 1701 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, N.C., from 1 to 5 p.m. Friday, March 29, 2019.
There will be a church viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 29, 2019, at Best Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 1065 Tommy’s Road, Goldsboro, N.C.
He was born May 1, 1962, in Wayne County, N.C., to James Earl and Maureen Moye Johnson.
He is survived by his mother, Maureen M. Johnson; three children, Kimberly Johnson-Thorbourne, Curtis W. Johnson Jr. and Marques Tremaine Johnson; and two sisters, Karen King (Clifford) and Tracey Alston (Kevin).

Ralph Charles Marshall Sr.
Feb. 20, 1937-March 26, 2019
Ralph Charles Marshall Sr., 82, passed away Tuesday at Betsy Johnson Memorial Hospital.
He was the son of the late John and Lazella Brenneman Marshall, and was married to the late Lucille Myers Marshall.
Mr. Marshall was a member of Erwin First Baptist Church.
He was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the United States Navy and the Untied States Air Force for a combined 26 years.
A graveside funeral service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 7 to 9 at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.
Ralph is survived by his children, Mike Marshall and wife, Madonna Mahoney, of San Antonio, Texas, Charles Marshall Jr. of Goldsboro, Terry Sims and husband, David, of Cibolo, Texas, Sandra Van Wormer and husband, Robert, of Dudley, Andrew Strickland of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Offie L. Strickland, and wife, Sarah, of North Charleston, S.C.; a brother, John Marshall of Rostraver Township, Pa.; a sister, Barb Matlock and husband, Jack, of West Newton, Pa.; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Louetta Lee Young, 88, Newton Grove, died Wednesday at UNC Rex Healthcare, Raleigh.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Randall’s Chapel Church, Newton Grove, with the Rev. Horace Johnson and the Rev. Charles Ray Jernigan officiating. Burial will be in Unity Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Newton Grove.
She was the daughter of the late Pearl and Seth Lee. She was married to the late W.G.
She is survived by a daughter and a son.

Michael Griffin, 62, 809 N. Virginia St., died Wednesday in Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Word of Truth Christian Fellowship. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
He was born Oct. 29, 1956, in Wayne County to Richard II and Margaret Rouse Griffin.
He is survived by a son.

Miguel Segura Gallardo, 36, 3718 Watkins Way, Farmville, died Friday from an automobile accident.
Funeral Mass will be 6:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Farmville. Burial will be in Mexico.
He was born Sept. 10, 1982, in Mexico to Andres Segura Jimenez and Herminia Gallardo Palma.

Born in Duplin County, she was the daughter of the late Robert Lee Farrior and Verta Dobson McKiver.

Myrtle Elizabeth Exum Batts, 91, Rose Hill, died Wednesday at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Center, Wilmington.
Memorial service will be 6:30 tonight at Rose Hill Baptist Church. Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Rose Hill Cemetery.
She was born Sept. 10, 1927, in Duplin County to the late Roy and Lucy Lee Exum. She was married to the late Tom Batts.
She is survived by three daughters.
