James “Jimmy” Lassiter Barnes Jr., 64 passed away Thursday, March 21, 2019, at UNC Rex Hospital in Raleigh.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 26, 2019, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home in Fremont. Interment will follow at Eureka Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday, March 25, 2019, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
Mr. Barnes was born in Wilson County Jan. 12, 1955, to the late James Lassiter Barnes Sr. and Katie Deans Barnes.
He was owner and operator of Barnes Auto Salvage in Fremont.
He enjoyed working on his old cars and fishing and was a workaholic!
He is survived by three daughters, Sandra Newsome of Fremont, Crystal Stith of Fremont and Brandy Stith of Fremont; one son, B.J. Barnes of Fremont; two brothers, David Barnes and wife, Debby, of Pikeville and Danny Barnes and wife, Bobbie, of Pikeville; and 13 grandchildren, Ashley, Katie, Amber, Cierra, Samantha, Keith, Bailee, Brooke, Amia, Michael, Khloe, Ruben and Willie.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Barnes was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Darlene Barnes.
The family is in the care of Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home in Fremont.

Janet Marie Hall Batts, 55, Fremont, passed away Friday, March 15, 2019, at home.
Born in Wilson County Oct. 29, 1963, she was the daughter of the late Loyed Cooper Hall and Linda Tucker Hall.
Janet worked as cashier with Wayne Oil Co. for several years.
She will be remembered for her heart of gold and love of animals.
A service to celebrate Janet’s life will be held Sunday, March 24, 2019, at 6 p.m. at The Word Church, 500 N. William St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530, with pastor Linda Burroughs officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service at the church and at other times, at the home of her brother, Charles Gurley.
Janet is survived by her husband, Tim Batts; children, Elizabeth Joe Hall and Joseph Earl Hall; grandchildren, Alysia, Maggie, Jonny and Stacie; sister, Malinda Ann Hall Tillman; brother, Charles Wayne Gurley and wife, Michelle; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Sebastian.

Adam Lee Marble Jr., 42, Magnolia, died Tuesday.
Funeral was 11 a.m. Saturday at Rose Hill Funeral Home chapel, Rose Hill, with apostle Carolyn Newkirk officiating. Burial was at Willard Community Cemetery.
He was the son of Barbara Jane Marble. He was married to Kristal Lee Marble.
He is survived by a son and five daughters.

Memorial service will be 6 p.m. Monday at Dobson Chapel Baptist Church
She was born Aug. 31, 1947, in Duplin County to the late James Preston and Lucille Jones Brown.
She is survived by a son, a daughter, a stepson and a stepdaughter.
