Earnest Ashley Barsh, 83, Goldsboro, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2019, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by his family.

Earnie proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps and retired from the United States Postal Service after 31 years of service.

A service to celebrate Earnie’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 2, 2019, in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with Dr. Randy Outland officiating. Interment with military honors will be held in Willow Dale Cemetery.

Earnie is survived by his daughters, Emily Barsh of Goldsboro and Mamie Barsh Riggs (Scott) of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Brandie Felts (Travis), Stuart Harris (Sarah) and Lauren Barsh; and great-grandchildren, Courteney Felts, Miller Harris and Miles Harris.

He is also survived by his stepgrandchildren, Jordan Riggs, Scotty Riggs, Spencer Riggs and Debra Riggs, and stepgreat-grandchildren, Blythe Riggs and Aubree Riggs.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Dail Boyette Barsh, and son, William Ashley Barsh.

The family will receive friends Friday, March 1, 2019, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.

Jeremy Wayne Carlton, 31, 987 McArthur Pond Road, Mount Olive, died Thursday.

Born in Alamance County, he was the son of Jerry Wayne Carlton and Melinda Cotton Carlton.

He was a member of Eureka Christian Church.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. Frank Purvis officiating.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.

A private burial will be held at Cotton Family Cemetery.

Along with his parents, Jeremy is survived by his son, Nathan Wayne Carlton of Goldsboro; his maternal grandparents, Nannie Cotton (Roy) Mills; paternal grandmother, Delois White; his brother, Steven A. Carlton; and his sister, Rachel Lynn Carlton.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Sarah Elizabeth Carlton, and his maternal grandfather, Deloit Cotton.

Mr. Paul Dobson, 53, passed Monday, Feb. 25, 2019, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center, Goldsboro, N.C.

A memorial celebration will be held at noon Monday, March 4, 2019, in J.B. Rhodes Jr. Memorial Chapel at J.B. Rhodes Funeral Home and Cremations, 1701 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, N.C.

He was born Nov. 5, 1965, in Bridgeport, Conn., to Robert Flanders and Pauline Dobson.

He is survived by his loving wife, Donesia Best Dobson of the home; two daughters, Paulette Dobson of Bridgeport, Conn., and Quawana Best of Goldsboro, N.C.; two sons, KeRon Ward of Goldsboro, N.C., and RaSean Brewington of Fayetteville, N.C.; mother-in-law, pastor Deloise (Carl) Waddell of Goldsboro, N.C.; father-in-law, minister Clifton (Brenda) Battle of Mableton, Ga.; four grandsons; four brothers; four sisters; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

Sarah Jordan Tyner, Mount Olive resident, passed away Wednesday morning, Feb. 27, at Wayne Hospital. She was 85 years of age.

Born and raised in Sampson County near Newton Grove, she was one of nine children.

Her late parents were Grover Cleveland Jordan and Annie Reaves Jordan.

She was married to Virgil Lee Tyner, a Keener native, and much of their married life was lived in Maryland. In the mid 1980s, they returned to Mount Olive, were they operated V and S Grocery Store on Church Street.

She was of the Baptist faith.

Mrs. Tyner is survived by three daughters and their spouses, Connie T. Keeney of Frederick, Md., Elizabeth T. and David Hopkins of Fort Mill, S.C., and Sandra T. and Donnie Howard of Mount Olive; three sisters, Virginia J. Myers and Ruby J. Kornegay both of Mount Olive and Judy J. Goode of Grantham; two brothers, Perry Jordan of Rocky Mount and Jimmy Jordan of Atlanta, Ga.; grandchildren, Dawn H. McFarland, Eric Hood, Jonathan Hopkins, Rachel Ryan, Brian Howard and Naomi Howard; and great-grandchildren, Zoe Hopkins, Elaina Howard, Ellie McFarland, Annie Hood and Noel Hood.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Michael Keeney; a great-grandson, Alex Hopkins; a brother, Grover C. Jordan Jr.; and sisters, Verna Jordan, Betty J. Mozingo and Geraldine J. Deaver.

Her family will receive friends at Tyndall Funeral Home Saturday, March 2, beginning at 1 p.m., with services to follow in the chapel at 2 p.m. The Rev. Jeff Bartlett will officiate. The service will commence with burial in Maplewood Cemetery.
