Lori Stallings Lancaster

Lori Ann Lancaster, 57, Faro community, Fremont, passed away May 22, 2019, after a valiant battle with cancer. She stepped into that glorious light and came to be with Jesus, the Lord that she loves. She died peacefully and beautifully surrounded by friends, family and song.
A visitation honoring Lori’s life will be held at Faro Chapel Sunday May 26, at 6 p.m.
A funeral service will be held Monday, May 27, at 10 a.m. at Faro Chapel, with interment in Lancaster Family Cemetery on Airport Road, Pikeville.
Lori was born Dec. 9, 1961, in Goldsboro, N.C., to Theron Stallings and Kathleen Hinson.
She was raised in Faro, and had lived there for many years.
By the age of 9, she began attending Faro Chapel, where she loved going to Sunday school. She had been an active member of this church and its surrounding community for nearly 50 years.
She graduated from Charles B. Aycock High School in 1980.
It was here at age 16 that she began her journey with her husband, Tim Lancaster, whom she married at 18. They had loved each other beautifully for four decades, and are an example to all of us of commitment, integrity and love.
Lori worked at Wilson County Department of Social Services, where she impacted the lives of coworkers as human resources director.
She retired in 2010 after 30 years of service.
Lori was an extremely loving woman who always went out of her way to help the people around her. She was kind and caring and always gave wise advice.
She loved spending time with her family, singing in the choir at Faro Chapel, traveling the country to watch baseball with Tim and cheering on her two children in all of their sporting, coaching and life endeavors.
She spent countless days helping to raise her two grandchildren and surrounding them with love.
She was a pillar of her community, and was loved by all.
She was preceded in death by her father, Theron Stallings; stepfather, James Hinson; and stepbrother, L.H. Hinson.
Lori is survived by her husband, Tim Lancaster; mother, Kathleen Hinson; brother, Jimmy Stallings; stepbrother, Gary Hinson; stepsister, Agatha Williams; son, T.J. Lancaster; daughter, Megan Gray and husband, Andrew Gray; and two grandchildren, Shepherd Gray and Bowman Gray.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Sabena Ann Hinson Uzzell, 75, Goldsboro, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.
Sabena was born in Wayne County July 29, 1943, to the late Harold Lloyd Hinson and Marian Gray Hinson.
She had worked for many years as a certified nursing assistant with Cherry Hospital.
Sabena was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She enjoyed the simple pleasures in life like sewing and spending time with her beloved family.
A service to celebrate Sabena’s life will be held Saturday, May 25, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, with pastor Bill Rose officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
Sabena is survived by her devoted husband and caregiver, Malcolm Uzzell; daughters, Catherine Bennett of Goldsboro and Suzanne Rhodes and husband, Timmy, of Newport; brother, Don Hinson and wife, Frances, of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Ashley Keen, Stephen Rhodes, Stephanie Myers, Dr. Kateland Bennett and Bryan Price; and the apples of her eye, her great-grandchildren, Cooper Keen, Ivy, Drayton and Weston Myers, Ashton and Carter Poindexter and Corrie Price.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, R.G. Williams, and brothers, Randy Hinson and James Edward Hinson.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given in Sabena’s memory to the charity of one’s choice.

Julian Patrick “J.P.” Barnes was born to the late Samuel Cox and Sandra Barnes Cox in Goldsboro, N.C.
J.P. graduated from Goldsboro High School ,and later studied at Wayne Community College.
Still cherishing J.P.’s memories are his wife, Ashley Joyner Barnes; children, Raekwon Barnes, Jalyn Joyner and Kyra Barnes; granddaughter, Ka’mani Barnes; mother, Sandra Barnes Cox; sisters, Jacqueline Barnes, Shanda Cox and Van Cox-Stallings; brothers, Morales and Fernandez Cox; nephews, Parrish Barnes, Tyronnie Cox; and niece, Jaimeya Carroll whom he raised as his own.
J.P. is also survived by a host of other family and friends.
J.P. was preceded in death by his daughter, Jenniyah Barnes; sister, Jennifer Barnes; grandmother, Agnes Barnes; and father, Samuel Cox.
A memorial celebration will be held Thursday, May 30, at 3 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home in Goldsboro, N.C.

Bernice Althea Whitted Webster, 90, 210 N. Harding Drive, died Monday at her residence.
Bernice Whitted Webster was born March 18, 1929, in Goldsboro, N.C., to the late Earl Whitted Sr. and Mabel Rue Whitted.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at First African Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
Visitation Saturday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Haskins Funeral Home.
The public Ivy Beyond the Wall ceremony will begin promptly at 6 p.m.
