Lauren Renee Harrell, 31, passed away Wednesday morning at Kitty Askins Hospice with her family by her side following a courageous and hard-fought battle with cancer.

Lauren was born in Wayne County to Jim Douglas Harrell and Beverly Hill Harrell, and was preceded in death by her brother, Doug Harrell.

Lauren was a 2005 graduate of Southern Wayne High School.

A service to celebrate Lauren’s life will be held Sunday at 4 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. Jerry A. Jackson officiating.

Family members will greet friends Sunday immediately following the service at the funeral home.

A committal service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.

In addition to her parents, Lauren is survived by her children, Brayden and Caydence Kincaid; brother, Scott Harrell; grandmother, Marlene Edwards; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, Lauren had requested that memorial gifts be directed to the Brayden and Caydence College Fund, 202 Providence Church Road, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.

Raymond L. Puckett Sr.

July 7, 1947- May 28, 2019

Raymond Lee Puckett Sr., resident of the Mount Olive area, passed away Tuesday, May 28, at Wayne Hospital. He was 71 years of age.

Mr. Puckett was retired from Patetown-Dixie Chemical Co., where he had been a delivery man, and also had worked in the warehouse.

He worshipped his Lord at Goshen New Life Church.

The family will receive friends at Tyndall Funeral Home Saturday, June 1, beginning at 11 a.m., with funeral services following at 12:30 p.m. in the Tyndall chapel. Officiating will be pastor Ken White. Burial will follow in Puckett Cemetery at the residence.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Goshen New Life Church, 3911 Suttontown Road, Faison, N.C., 28341.

Mr. Puckett was preceded in death by his wife, Sara H. Puckett, and his parents, Charlie Hugh Puckett and Susie Ann Lewis Puckett.

He is survived by his children, Suzann Puckett Bowman and husband, Gregory, of Roanoke, Va., and Raymond Lee Puckett Jr., Dennis Eugene Puckett and wife, Heather, and Melissa Puckett all of Mount Olive; three grandchildren, Aaron Bowman and wife, Kelli, Ray Puckett and Arason Puckett; and his siblings, Charles Ed Puckett of Manassas, Va., Mary Ann Hoggard of Georgia, Bill Puckett and Kyle Puckett both of Tazewell, Va., and Patricia Puckett of Georgia.


Matthew Alexander Rose

Matthew Alexander Rose, 34, Goldsboro, N.C., passed away May 24, 2019, as a result of a motor vehicle accident.

Matthew was born in Brunswick, Ga. He was the son of Cathy K. Rose and Ray Rose of Cherokee, N.C.

He was currently employed by Sanderson Farms Inc of Goldsboro as a maintenance technician.

Matthew is survived by his parents, Cathy and Ray Rose; his wife, Kathy S. Rose and daughter, Trinity Elise Rose, of Goldsboro, N.C.; his daughter, Andyna Jewel Rose of Cumming, Ga., stepchildren, James Valley, Carter Valley and Ruby Valley of Rocky Pointe, N.C.; a sister, Jennifer Rose of Franklin, N.C., and nieces Erika Wachacha of Cherokee, N.C., and Mia Bouakhamphong of Franklin, N.C.

He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins and his close friend, Shannon Scott of LaGrange, N.C.

Matthew was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the New York Yankees.

A celebration of life ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2019, at Longhouse Funeral Home in Cherokee, N.C.

Brenda Pitt, 64, formerly of Wayne County, died May 24 at Carteret Health Care, Morehead City.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. today at Word Faith Center.

She was born Nov. 23, 1954, in Wayne County to Jesse James and Rematha Jones Pitt.

She is survived by four children.

He was born April 18, 1958, in Nash County to Jimmy and Avoria Harrison Taylor.

The Rev. George Henry “Jack” Williams, 89, 801 S. Harding Drive, died Sunday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Funeral will be noon Saturday at Greenleaf Christian Church Disciples of Christ, with the Rev. William J. Barber II officiating. Burial will be in Martin Cemetery, Warsaw.

Born in Wayne County, he was the son of the late Timothy McCoy and Maggie Artis Williams.
