Cecil Perry Huffman Jr., 64, Goldsboro, passed away suddenly Monday, May 6, 2019, in Hope Mills.

Cecil was born in Wayne County Oct. 1, 1954, to Irene Gurley Christie of Hope Mills and the late Cecil Perry Huffman Sr.

He was currently employed with Adams Carpet One in Wilson.

Cecil was a good husband and a great father, and had a generous heart. He provided a wonderful home for his family, and gave all he could to help them succeed in life.

A private service for the family will be held at a later date.

In addition to his mother, Cecil is survived by his wife of 44 years, Terri Pennington Huffman; children, Celia H. Solarez and husband, Daniel, Cecil Perry Huffman III, Christen H. Honeycutt and husband, Chad, and Taylor Lee Huffman; and his grandchildren, William Robert Solarez, Matthew Perry Solarez and Aubrie Grace Honeycutt.

He was also preceded in death by his sister, Sherry Huffman.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given in his memory to Blended Fellowship, 2091 Big Daddy’s Road, Pikeville, N.C., 27863.

Mr. James “Jas” Rowe, 88, 209 Graham St., passed Monday, May 6, 2019, at Kitty Askins Hospice, Goldsboro, N.C.

The celebration of his life will be held Saturday, May 11, 2019, at 2 p.m. at St. Mark Church of Christ Disciples of Christ, 700 W. Ash St., Goldsboro, N.C., with Bishop Alton A. Smith officiating. He will be laid to rest at Old Mill Cemetery, 3718 Central Heights Road, Goldsboro, N.C.

There will be a viewing held Friday, May 10, 2019, from 2 to 7 p.m., with the family arriving to receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. at J.B. Rhodes Funeral Home and Cremations, Goldsboro, N.C.

He was born Jan. 12, 1931, in Wayne County, N.C., to Mallon and Mae Cora Barnes Rowe. He was married to Martha Giles Rowe.

He is survived by his children.

Ms. Linda Ham, 70, Pikeville, N.C., passed away Sunday at Wayne UNC Health Care.

She was born in Wayne County, N.C., to the late Dollie and Eugene Ham.

She was preceded in death by a son, DeWayne Wade, and a daughter, Crystal Lupton.

She leaves to cherish her memories one son, Thomas Ham; two grandsons, Shawn Lupton and Sebastian Watts; four sisters; and three brothers.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Jean Robinson Holmes, 76, Summerlin’s Crossroads area, Mount Olive, passed away early Wednesday morning, May 8, 2019, at Vidant Duplin Hospital.

The family will receive friends at Tyndall Funeral Home Saturday, May 11, beginning at 2 p.m., with funeral services following at 3 p.m. in the chapel. Officiating will be minister Coy Brock. Burial will conclude the service in Maplewood Cemetery.

Family and friends are also being received at the Holmes residence.

Memorial gifts may be made to Vidant Hospice, 750 S. Kenansville Bypass, Kenansville, N.C., 28349.

Raised in the Grantham area of Wayne County, she graduated from Grantham High School, and had attended Carter Bible College in Goldsboro.

She had been employed in a clerical position at Young Squire Industries for 13 years, and had been employed in the town clerk’s office in Faison, N.C.

A wonderful wife and mother, she assisted her husband in farming and maintaining their home and raising their four daughters and some grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and was known for her genuine and compassionate nature in caring for numerous family members through the years.

She worshipped her Lord at Brock’s Chapel Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Durwood Holmes; a daughter, Mary Lynn Holmes Murphy; grandson, Thomas Franklin Murphy; parents, John B. and Lucille Godwin Robinson; and a brother, Russell H. Robinson.

Surviving family members include three daughters, Lori Holmes Brock and husband, Ronald Allen, of Mount Olive, Donna Holmes Martin and husband, Hugh Bryant, of Faison and Alison Holmes Hall of Goldsboro; seven grandchildren, Michael Brock, Christopher Brock, Ernest Murphy IV, Faith Taylor, Bradley Taylor, Laura Martin Mello and Kristen Martin Canterbury; 11 great-grandchildren; special family members, Debbie Smith of Goldsboro and her children, Robin Offield of Goldsboro and Christopher Smith of New Bern; three sisters, Brenda R. Ivey of Fayetteville, Louise R. Ivey of Lucama and Beverly R. Carlisle of Weldon; a sister-in-law, Lucille Holmes Winders of Rocky Mount; and many nieces and nephews from both the Robinson and Holmes families whom she loved very much.

Scott Allen Farmer, 48, Goldsboro, passed away Monday, April 29, 2019.

Scott is survived by his father, Donnie Farmer and wife, Sheila; mother, Ann Turner and husband, Clyde; daughter, Brooke Martin; sister, Steffanie Schwartz; brother, Jason Farmer; stepsisters, Wendy Weaver and Marla Shearin; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends Friday, May 10, 2019, from 6  to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home of his father.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, May 11, 2019, at 3 p.m. at the Old St. Mary Catholic Church in downtown Goldsboro. Interment will be immediately following in Salem Cemetery.
