Edward Brewington Jr., 76, departed his earthly walk Thursday, May 9, 2019, at home.
Homegoing service will be held Tuesday, May 14, 2019, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Goldsboro.
Viewing will be held Monday, May 13, 2019, from 4 to 7 p.m. with the family present from 6 to 7 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home and Crematory.
Mr. Brewington was born in Wayne County March 3, 1943, to the late Edward and Oletha Holmes Brewington.
He retired from the United States Army, having served his country proudly, and was a member of the American Legion, Disabled Veterans Association and the Military Retirees Club.
Mr. Brewington retired from the Department of Sanitation in the state of New York, and had worked previously with Arnold Wilbert Vault Co. in Goldsboro.
He leaves to cherish his memories three sons, James Anthony “Levi” Barnes of Austin, Texas, Edward L. Brewington of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Don Maurice White of Charlotte; his daughter, Miracle Brewington of Conyers, Ga.; four brothers, Willie Brewington of Odenton, Md., Bishop Clifton Brewington and wife, Portia, of Goldsboro, elder Lamont Brewington and wife, Brenda, of Wilson and Kenneth Brewington of Anchorage, Alaska; two sisters, Inez B. Covington of Anchorage, Alaska, and Vera Logan of Goldsboro; seven grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Hamilton Brewington; two sons, Edward Lee Brewington and Earl Green; and two sisters, Annie McNeil and Delores Stallworth.

Jeremy Butler Gould
Jeremy, Wake Forest, was born Jan. 2, 1971, in Raleigh, N.C., the first of two sons of Lindsey Marshall Gould and Jewelle Jackson Boone.
He earned his high school diploma at Raleigh’s Broughton High School in 1989 and his undergraduate degree at East Carolina University (ECU) in 1994, a school he continued to love and passionately support long after graduation.
He was predeceased in death by both sets of his grandparents, Thomas and Martha Gould, as well as J.B. and Blanche Jackson.
Surviving him are his wife, Nicole Rollins Gould; children, Brooke Lindsey, Ashlynn Grace, Anna, Jackson, Alexander and Luke; his mother, Jewelle Jackson Boone and stepfather, Bobby Boone, of Greenville, N.C.; his father, Lindsey Marshall Gould and stepmother, Phyllis Gould, of Raleigh, N.C.; his brother, Daniel Gould and his family, wife, Laurie, and their children, Daisy and Brodie, of Fuquay-Varina, N.C.; stepbrother, Hill Boone of Carlsbad, Calif.; and stepsister, Kathryn Boone of Raleigh, N.C.

Hazel Joyce Worrell Smith, 85, Goldsboro, passed away Friday, May 10, 2019, at Wayne UNC Health Care.
Born in Wayne County Sept. 8, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Bruce Worrell Sr. and Lucettia Overman Worrell.
Joyce was a homemaker and a member of Woods Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.
A service to celebrate Joyce’s life will be held Monday, May 13, 2019, at p.m. at Woods Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, with the Rev. Barry Teague officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall and at other times, at the home.
Burial will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.
Joyce is survived by her husband of 68 years, Russell “Doc” Smith; daughters, Cindy Darden and husband, Al, and Lisa Smith; sons, Russell Keith Smith and wife, Susan, Craig Smith and wife, Doris, and Kelvin Smith and wife, Tonya; sister, Shirley Clark; brothers, Kenneth Worrell and wife, Barbara, Bruce Worrell Jr. and wife, Ann, Billy Worrell and John Worrell; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren (and three on the way); one great-great-grandchild; one stepgranddaughter; and two stepgreat-granddaughters.

Kenneth Ray Parker, 71, Foresthill, Calif., passed away at his home March 29, 2019.
He was born Jan. 5, 1948, to the late Bernice Edward Parker and Ruth Christine Murphy Parker Toler Brown.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Marie Parker Evans Jones and Annette Parker Johnston, and stepsisters, Anne Toler Worley McCormick and Mable Toler Gray.
The burial will take place Monday, May 13, 2019, at 4 p.m. in Princeton Cemetery. Ivy Parker will officiate the service.
Mr. Parker graduated from Princeton High School in 1966.
He entered the United States Marine Corp in 1967, and served for four years.
He is survived by brother, Bernice Edward Parker Jr. and wife, Mae, of Goldsboro; half-brother, Larry Keith Toler and wife, Julia, of Princeton; stepbrother, H.C. Toler Jr. and wife, Linda, of Kenly; stepsister, Nellie Toler Martin of Princeton; brothers-in-law, Mark Johnston and Cecil Jones; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dorothy Sanders, 90, 3601 Eck Drive, Raleigh, died Wednesday in Duke Raleigh Hospital.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Redeeming Love Missionary Baptist Church, Raleigh. Burial will be in Wilson Mills Cemetery, Wilson Mills.
She was born July 17, 1928, in Johnston County to Nathaniel and Mable Jones McClain.
She is survived by five children.
Visitation will be Tuesday 30 minutes prior to the service, with the family present. The family will assemble at 2821 Pinehurst Drive, Raleigh, for the funeral procession.
