Frances Elizabeth Wooten Wilson, 92, Goldsboro, peacefully passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at Woodard’s Care.

Born in Edgecombe County Dec. 22, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Adell Dilda Wooten. She was married to the late Norwood Cole Wilson.

Elizabeth was a bookkeeper, having worked at BB&T and Cherry Hospital.

She was a graduate of King’s Business College in Raleigh and a member of Brogden United Methodist Church.

Elizabeth was a fun-loving mother, grandma and Gigi. For many years, her granddaughters were the apples of her eye, and then came the great-grandchildren, who quickly took the spotlight.

She loved her family; they were her life. Elizabeth was a cute and cuddly lady, but also possessed a quick wit.

She always enjoyed the chance to travel with family and friends.

Elizabeth loved her church and was very active in many capacities at Brogden.

A service to celebrate Elizabeth’s life will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2019, at Wayne Memorial Park, with the Rev. Cliff Harwood officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery and at other times, at the home of her son.

Elizabeth is survived by her son, Wiley Wilson and wife, Sandra; granddaughters, Allison Speight and husband, Derek, and Jennifer Sparrow and husband, Jeff; and four great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Colton Speight and Spencer and Elisa Sparrow.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Brogden United Methodist Church, 2918 U.S. 117, Dudley, N.C., 28333.

George Roland “Poly” Taylor, 73, Scott’s Store area of Mount Olive, passed away Monday night, May 20, 2019, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Visitation for family and friends will be Monday, May 27, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 28, at 11 a.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home, with burial following in Wiggins Cemetery.

Mr. Taylor was retired from the United States Air Force.

He had been a structural repairman in both military and civil arenas, and had also worked with a paper copier company.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Preceded in death by his parents, Jasper Franklin Taylor and Annie Pearl Wiggins Taylor; an infant sister, Marie McCullen; brothers, Jasper F. Taylor Jr. and Lawrence McCullen; and sisters, Yvonne Brogden, Mildred Ann “Bill” Reddish and Jean Shelton; Poly is survived by his wife, Peggy B. Taylor; three sons, George R. Taylor Jr. of the home, Wesley Taylor and wife,Crystal, of Bunn Level and Chauncey Taylor of Roy, Utah; two daughters, Kay Keenan and husband, Tommy, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Stacie Kelley and husband, Chris, of Milford, N.H.; six grandchildren, Dalis Butterfield, James Butterfield, Erin Kelley, Reid Taylor, Koltan Taylor and Remi Taylor; two sisters, Grace Bateman of Florida and Carlene Calhoun of Arizona; four brothers, Virgil Taylor of Kenansville, Ronnie Taylor of Clinton and LaVelle Taylor and Chestley Taylor both of Mount Olive; and many nieces and nephews.

Maxine H. Seymour

May 8, 1940-May 23, 2019

Audrey Maxine Hardy Seymour, 79, Seven Springs, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2019.

Maxine was born in Wayne County May 8, 1940, to the late Robert Earl and Maybelle Hardy.

A lifelong homemaker, life for Maxine revolved around her family and its well-being. Her happiest moments were when all the family was gathered around enjoying good food and fellowship.

A homebody, Maxine found great pleasure in tending to her garden. Her green thumb and gardening skills were evident everywhere you looked.

Time spent reading a good book brought much joy to Audrey’s life.

A graveside service to celebrate Maxine’s life will be held Monday, May 27, 2019, at 2 p.m. at Pineview Cemetery.

Maxine is survived by four children, Robert Alan Hughes and wife, Ronda, Jerry Clifton Hughes and wife, Paige, Donna Sharon Pollard and husband, David, and Lori Lynn Smith and husband, Jeff; along with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Audrey was preceded in death by her brother, Linwood Earl Hardy.

Family and friends will be received at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Hughes following the graveside service.

Andrew Jackson Strickland Sr., 94, 700 Biddle Road, Dover, died Wednesday at Signature Health Care, Kinston.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Monday at Alum Spring Church of Christ Disciples of Christ. Burial will be in Strickland Family Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. today, with the family present, at the church. The family will assemble at home for the funeral procession.

Betty Louise Hales King, 83, died Thursday at the Brian Center, Wilson.

Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Kenly Funeral Service, followed by a funeral at 11 a.m. in the chapel, with the Rev. David Kriger officiating. Interment will be in Kenly Cemetery.

At other times, the family will be at the home of Dawn and Mike Watkins, 3207 Brentwood Drive North, Wilson, N.C.

She was born in Johnston County Dec. 26, 1935, to the late William Perry Hales and Hazel Cuddington Hales. She was married to the late Alvin E. Boykin and the late Walter King.

She is survived by two children.

Mildred “Bill” Florene Grant, 93, died Friday at Countryside Village.

There will be no funeral.

She was born in Wilson County July 2, 1925, to the late Charlie and Mary Barnes. She was married to the late Jesse Alton Grant Sr.

She is survived by a son.

Blanchie Mae Brown Dixon, 85, Greenevers community, died Friday at Vidant Duplin Hospital, Kenansville.
