Douglas ‘Buster’ Whaley

Wayne Douglas “Buster” Whaley, 67, Scott’s Store community, Mount Olive, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly while at work Tuesday morning, Nov. 20, 2018.
The family will receive friends at Tyndall Funeral Home Friday from 1 to 3 p.m., with funeral services to follow at 3 p.m. in the chapel. The Rev. Jeff Bartlett will officiate. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery.
Friends and family are also being received at the home.

Buster, as owner/operator of Whaley’s Lawn Care, provided landscaping and mowing services for many lawns and gardens of various residences and businesses, and was caretaker of Mount Olive’s town cemeteries.
He was a founding member of Pleasant Grove Fire Department.
Loved ones Buster leaves behind include his wife, Carol Jackson Whaley of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Pamela Whaley of Mount Olive; a daughter, Angie Whaley Burgess of Mount Olive; son-in-law, Rich Burgess of Mount Olive; a sister, Glenda W. Herring of Mount Olive; six grandchildren, Cortney Kennedy and husband, Shawn, of Pink Hill, Carley Lee and husband, Nate, of Albertson, Matthew Burgess of Georgia, Makenzie Adams and Brandon Adams both of Mount Olive and Ashley McCaw of New Bern; great-grandchildren, Oaklyn Renee Kennedy, Jaelyn Hill and Kelsie Hill; brother-in-law, Gerald Holland and friend, Nancy Lamm, both of Rocky Mount; sisters-in-law, Denise J. Keel of Pink Hill, Barbara J. Livingston of Faison, Lynette J. Matthis of Clinton, Debbie J. Tyre and husband, Danny, of Georgia and Jackie J. Smith of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond A. and Florence Taylor Whaley; a sister, Linda Whaley Holland; brothers-in-law, Billy D. Herring, C. T. Matthis and Danny Keel; and his wife’s parents, James and Jean Jackson.

Died Nov. 18, 2018
Daniel Earl Harris, 69, 3720 Ashbrook Drive, Wilson, died Sunday at Durham VA Health Care System.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Bryant Chapel AME Zion Church, Cove City. Burial will be with military honors in White Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the church an hour prior to the service, with the family present.
Arrangements are by Trinity Memorial Funeral Home, Kinston.
Jana Michelle Lee

Jana Michelle Lee, 46, Goldsboro, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2018, at Wayne UNC Health Care.
Jana was born in Wayne County May 31, 1972, to Vicky Lee Griffin and the late Harold Brooks Lee.
She was passionate about the work she did as a pest control technician, as well as books, trips to the beach in the summer and mountain trips in the fall.
Jana will be remembered as a free spirit, who enjoyed drag racing and listening to the Avett Brothers.
Most of all, she enjoyed the time she spent with her family.
The family will receive friends Sunday, Nov. 25, 2018, from 2 to 3 p.m. at Pikeville Church, followed by a service to celebrate Jana’s life at 3 p.m. in the sanctuary, with the Rev. Mark Whitfield and the Rev. Thomas McLendon officiating. Interment will be with her father at Pikeville Cemetery.
Jana is survived by her children, Dylan Barfield and wife, Brittany, Brittany Brown and husband, Jordan, Beth Barfield, Dalton Barfield and Jack Irvin; mother and stepfather, Vicky and Dennis Griffin; grandchildren, Ayden Barfield, Addison Barfield, Emory Brown and Lily Brown; and brother, Chris Lee and wife, Teresa.
She is also survived by her aunt and uncle, Richard and Carol Morgan, and nephew, Dickie Morgan and a significant other, Michael Brown.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in Jana’s memory to the charity of one’s choice.

Mr. Cecil Sherrel Rose, 77, went to be with his Lord, Jesus Christ, Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2018.
Mr. Rose was born in Wayne County April 5, 1941, to John and Mildred Rose of Goldsboro.
He was employed by Bell South for many years as a telecom technician.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 1200 Benson Road, Garner, N.C., with the Rev. Rex Evans officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Princeton, N.C.
In addition to his son, Richard Rose, he is survived by his sister, Sue Langley; his brother, Bobby Rose; grandsons, Chris Evans and Eric Rose; and granddaughters, Katie Lilly, Bethany Brink and Holly Evans.
