Loretta Solice Fields, 70, 200 Quail Forest Blvd., No. 111, Naples, Fla., gained her wings on Nov. 5, 2018, at Avow Hospice, Fla.

A memorial service will be held in the fellowship hall at the First Congregational Church, Dudley, N.C., on Saturday, Dec. 1, at 11 a.m.

She was born in Wayne County to Addie Jones Solice and the late Wesley Solice Sr. She was married to the late Marvin Fields.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Ogden Ray Solice and Wesley Solice Jr.

She is survived by three children, Michelle Dallas, Mark Fields, and Kevin Fields, all of Fla.; two sisters, Denise Murphy, of Greenville, N.C., and Patricia Midgette, of Goldsboro; her mother-in-law, Audrey Fields, of Florida; her brother-in-law, Billy Fields, of Manassas, Va.; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Zora Webb Rucker, 75, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018, at the home of her daughter.

Zora was born in Mullens, West Virginia, on May 14, 1943, to the late Romey Maynard Webb and Virginia Marie McGhee Webb. She was married to the late Garland H. Rucker. Zora had worked for many years as a nursing assistant with Lewis-Gale Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia. She was an active member of Rosewood First Baptist Church in Goldsboro and the Gleaners Sunday School Class. Zora also served in the Women’s United Ministries.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2018, from 3 to 4 p.m. at Rosewood First Baptist Church followed by a service to celebrate her life at 4 p.m. in the sanctuary with the Rev. Dr. Mike Collier and the Rev. A. Tracy Webb officiating. Interment will be on Monday at the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Roanoke, Virginia.

Zora is survived by her daughters, Jacki Barnett, and husband Joseph “Buddy,” of Goldsboro, and Dianna Barnett, of Rosewood; son, the Rev. A. Tracy Webb, and wife Betty, of Winston-Salem; grandchildren, Timothy Webb, and wife Jessica, Jonathan Webb, Michael “Wayne” Barnett Jr., Joseph “Joey” Barnett III, and wife Kimberly, Crystal Elaine Barnett and Tyler Barnett; and three great-grandchil- dren, Solomon Webb, Emmaleigh Faye Barnett and Elijah Brooks Barnett.

Portia G. Snyder

June 1, 1949- Nov. 28, 2018

Portia Gail Grant Snyder, 69, died Wednesday evening, Nov. 28, 2018, at Lenoir UNC Health Care.

Born June 1, 1949, she was the daughter of Oscar Grant Jr. and Martha Ruth Ward Grant. Portia was a 1967 graduate of North Lenoir High School and continued her post-secondary education at Wayne Community College where she completed the nursing program. As an LPN, she worked for many years at Britthaven Nursing Home and Howell’s Child Care before changing careers to retail and working with Family Dollar. Portia loved her family, country music and animals, which led to her volunteering with the Greene County Animal Shelter.

She is survived by her husband, Jim Snyder, of the home; daughters, Catherine S. Cleveland (Jeffrey), of Brattleboro, Vt., Jessica S. Rodriguez, of Goldsboro, and Stephanie S. Ramirez (Jorge), of Farmville; a son, Jamie Snyder, of Greenville; grandchildren, Christopher Cleveland, Ashley Cleveland, Sabrina Valdez, Brandon Jayubo, Fernando Rodriguez, Nathaniel Ramirez and Collin Ramirez; and a sister, Betty Jean Grant, of Goldsboro.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at the chapel of Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service with Pastors Timothy and Vanessa Leggett officiating. Committal services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, at the State Veterans Cemetery in Goldsboro.

The family will receive friends on Saturday immediately following the service.

She was born Jan. 25, 1932, in Wayne County to Forrest Frederick and Victora Pitt.
