DUDLEY — The C.B. Aycock Golden Falcons defeated the Southern Wayne Saints 59-44 on Tuesday night to extend their winning streak to six games.
The Golden Falcons got off to a strong start on Tuesday when they jumped out to an early 8-3 lead thanks to a layup by Ethan Brock, a free throw apiece from Kamran Prince and Gerald Ramey and two made shots by Jaidyne Dunn.
Southern Wayne quickly rallied back, and O’shay Faison capped off a 7-3 scoring run with a three-pointer to tie the game at 10-10.
C.B. Aycock then reclaimed the lead at 12-10 on the final score of the quarter with a two-pointer from Dunn.
At the start of the second quarter, the Golden Falcons increased their lead up to 16-10 with a jump shot from Kamran Prince and a layup from D.J. Prince.
Southern Wayne answered with back-to-back layups of their own to cut the C.B. Aycock lead down to two points.
Both teams continued to trade baskets throughout the second quarter, and at halftime, C.B. Aycock held a small 25-20 lead.
Southern Wayne opened up the second half by going a 10-6 run to cut the C.B. Aycock lead down to 31-30.

With C.B. Aycock still holding onto a one-point lead at 36-35, the Golden Falcons went on the most important scoring run of the game when they outscored the Saints 6-1 to close out the third quarter.
The momentum the Golden Falcons earned at the end of the third quarter carried over into the fourth quarter, and they extended their scoring run to 19-3, which gave them a 55-38 lead.
The Golden Falcons’ run ultimately decided the game’s outcome, as the Saints could never catch up to the Golden Falcons, who held on to win by a final score of 59-44.
C.B. Aycock head coach A.J. Mundle said he was proud of the Golden Falcons’ effort in the second half of the game.
“As always (I saw) the fight, and (desire) to win,” Mundle said. “We picked it at the end of the third (quarter) to the fourth (quarter).”
With the win, C.B. Aycock improved to 13-4 overall and 6-1 in Quad County 3A Conference play, while Southern Wayne fell to 8-6 overall and 5-1 in conference play.
C.B. Aycock will host Hunt (5-11, 2-5) on Friday at 7:30 p.m., while the Saints hosted East Wake (9-6, 6-0) on Wednesday and will travel to East Wake on Friday at 7:45 p.m.
