Pfenning scores four runs to lead Goldsboro past Wayne Christian
Senior Amber Pfennig scored a team-high four runs and stole three bases to lead Goldsboro past Wayne Christian 15-1 on the softball diamond Monday night. Marcy Taylor improved her record to 8-3 overall and struck out five Eagles, while Rileigh Gibson finished 3-4 from the plate, scored two runs and stole a base. Nikki Olmsted hit a double, had three RBIs and scored two runs. Goldsboro is 8-3 overall and travels to Midway today, while Wayne Christian drops 4-1 on the season.

Peyton Wilkins pitched six and two-thirds innings, gave up two hits and struck out 14 batters to help lift Goldsboro past Wayne Christian 6-3. Brody Morton led the way at the plate with two hits, while Josh Hartsfield hit a triple. Savion Edwards, Drake Ennis, Lexton Lewis, Wilkins and Morton each had an RBI. For Wayne Christian, Tyler Kornegay had an RBI and two hits, while Addison Johnson had a hit. Johnson also pitched two and thirds innings, giving up zero hits, zero runs, and threw five strikeouts.

Brett Forbis paced the Golden Falcons’ offense with three RBIs and two hits. Dennis Dangerfield went 3-4 and hit a double, while S.J. Harris, Cullen Tucker and Ben Wright supplied one hit apiece. Tyler Horton finished with two hits. Hunter Theriac pitched three innings and threw four strikeouts, while Carter Gipson threw four strikeouts in two innings of work. D.J. Madrigal pitched one inning and tossed strikeouts. Combined the three pitchers gave up only two hits.
