C.B. Aycock splits Eastern Wayne Warrior Holiday Duals

Charles B. Aycock had bookend wins of its four duals to finish 2-2 at the Eastern Wayne Warrior Holiday Duals on Saturday. C.B. Aycock opened the day by soundly beating Northern Nash, 63-10. That was followed by a close defeat to Pinecrest, one of the top 4-A programs in the area 39-33 in a dual that came down to the very last match. Gray’s Creek put it to the Aycock grapplers 51-27 in the third dual, but Aycock ended the day with a pounding of Hunt, 60-15.

Eight grapplers had solid performances on the day. Juniors Tyler Hughes and Soph Turner Bass went perfect at 4-0, while the following wrestlers went 3-1 on the day: senior Alexa Soroka, senior Torrence Franklin, junior Canon Barrett, junior Colby Perry, sophomore Omar Tucker and sophomore Kevin Dickenson.

C.B. Aycock stands at 11-6 on the season with Conference Duals beginning on Tuesday against Southern Wayne and J.H. Rose.

Prep boys’ basketball

West Johnston 51, Rosewood 46

Roderick Benjamin 8 scored points and Wyatt Searles had 7 points, but Rosewood dropped its season opener against West Johnston 51-46 on Friday.

North Johnston 57, Rosewood 44

Roderick Benjamin scored 18 points, while Juston Jackson scored 11 points, but the Rosewood lost to North Johnston 57-44 on Saturday. Rosewood (0-2 overall) hosts Spring Creek on Tuesday.
